SAN DIEGO Immigration, a hot-button issue that has dominated headlines in Arizona and nationally over recent years, is fading from the public consciousness amid economic turmoil, Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said July 30.
Because of whats going on with the recession, although (immigration) is still important, its not nearly as important as the recession, Pullen said in an interview at the Republican National Committees annual summer meeting. Cap and trade is now even a higher issue in Arizona than is immigration, as well as health care.
. . . . .
Pullen, an anti-illegal immigration activist before becoming chairman of the state GOP, also said he is backing Sen. John McCain for re-election, despite the fact that he and McCain have had their differences over the immigration issue.
John McCain said he supports the Republican Partys platform on immigration. You know, thats good enough for me, since I wrote it, Pullen said.
His basic position is the right position, Pullen said. That works for me.

Does McLame have an opponent in the primary?
The “Error 404 - Not Found” makes it hard to read more than the posted exerpt.
Apparently Pullen has never talked o John about his immigration policy stance, nor has he bothered to turn on a TV any time in the last 12 years while John was bloviating.

Pullen a fast one?
There seems to be a lot of that going around in the GoP.
Flush McCain.
You cant be much of an anti-illegal alien activist if you end up supporting McCain....McCain is the godfather of illegal alien amnesty.....
As for amnesty not being an issue....the Dems will be pushing the issue later this year, and a vote is planned sometime in 2010. The Dems want illegal alien amnesty real bad....
I cannot stand Juan McLame. he is a collaborator with the DNC, Maldef, La Raza, SEIU and Hussein.

The link works fine but it goes to a 404 page. Do you have another working link?

And just what is the Republican Party's platform on immigration? Does this Arizona state chairman know that McCain also supports cap and trade? And who knows what else McCain might decide to stab the party in the back over.
Someone other than Chris Simcox needs to oppose McCain in the Republican primary. These single issue candidates seldom do well. Still hoping for J. D. Hayworth.
Yeah, see the one at 10. There should be an apostrophe in the “he’ll” in the link.
Thank you :)

two peas in a pod dump them both...McCain is a loser ergo so is Pullen.
I’m probably dreaming, but I’d love to see Sarah! campaign against McQueeg in this race. She could say it’s payback to Steve Schmidt.
I agree about J. D. Hayworth.
I think the real question is "Why is the head of the state party endorsing anyone in the primary?". The whole purpose of the primary election is to determine who the VOTERS want.
We are not Democrats, and don't like having someone choose our candidates for us. Oops, I guess the Dems did pick McCain for us last time......our bad!
The conservatives of Arizona need to take control of that states republican party...
RINO BACKS RINO! And the NEWS is.....
You should have handed out barf bags for this.
Here we go same old, same ole.
