But there is something amazingly heartening about the idea of crushing your enemies houses - and city hall! - under the tracks of your own 50-tonne KillDozer I wonder how far a guy could get in DC. It could certainly use some dozing.

I have a vision of the year 2011, after Obama has reversed Bush’s tax cuts and the IRS owns your souls.
I almost seem to see a 50-tonne KillDozer with the words “Flat Tax” written on the side ...

Not to endorse what he did, but corruption in small towns can be very frustrating. Being in with the in crowd can definitely lead to financial rewards.

Exactly.
One is sorely tempted to choke the living crap out of some people who so richly deserve it.
I was reminded of same today in an uncivil conversation with Quest Diagnostics.

And one more thing ...what he paid for HIS property is of no consequence to anyone who might want to buy it. It is HIS property and he, just like you or anyone else, is entitled to put whatever price he may want to on it whether it makes sense or not.
The “good” city fathers and the concrete plant attempted to extort the man out of his property. They got less than they deserved in my book.
I also believe the dozer in question was a Cat.

It would have been appropriate if he christened his “killdozer” the HOWARD BEALE....”I’m as MAD AS HELL and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

Zoning codes are the most easily abused. Because they are “administrative law” none of the protections of the constitution are in full force. You have to prove your innocence, for example, and many codes start with a variation of the wording “anything that is not specifically allowed is illegal”.

Great minds think alike and all that.

Zoning codes are the most easily abused. They sure can be. A huge part of any developer's job is navigating the politics and regulatory process. I think there's a lot of pay to play going on.
