Hastings Withdraws ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Amendment to DoD Appropriations Bill
Congressman Alcee L. Hastings Website ^ | July 28 2009 | Congressman Alcee L. Hastings

“I introduced an amendment to H.R. 3326, now withdrawn, prohibiting the use of funds in this bill to investigate or discharge our dedicated service men and women on the grounds of ‘telling’ their sexual orientation. The Policy Concerning Homosexuality in the Armed Forces – commonly called ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ – provides that a service member can be separated from the Armed Forces for stating that he or she is a homosexual or bisexual. Due to pressure from some of my Congressional colleagues and from the White House, I have withdrawn my amendment.

Pre-election, Obama pledged strong leadership to end DADT

Post-election, he said it was harming national security, but Congress had to deal with it for a long-term solution.

Now he's actively sabotaging congressional efforts against it

Whether you think DADT is a good thing or a bad thing, one thing's for sure. That the POTUS doesn't just break campaign promises (as all politicians do), he's actively treacherous. If he really believes that DADT is harming the USA, he should support its removal. And if not, he not only doesn't take National Security seriously, so is willing to lie about it, he actively betrays those who support him.

"One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."

Sincerely, W. Mitt Romney

If there is one thing - - and I guess there is only one thing - - that Ubama has done mostly right it is that he hasn’t let the lefty goofballs in his administration and his party play games with the military. So far he seems to have left military operations and the military culture in general in the hands of military commanders.

The danger will be if Ubama is re-elected and, as a lame duck, feels free to turn the nuts loose on the military. It could get worse than Clinton, and that is saying something.

Keeping Dr. Robert M. Gates was probably the best decision Zero has made.

This p.o.s. Congressman Alcee L. Hastings is my congressman.
He is a lying thief who was a federal judge who was convicted by the senate of taking bribe money from drug dealers and impeached.
This district is a Gerrymandered district carved out of two mostly black cities 30 miles apart with a sliver of farm land connecting them to insure a black representative.
This is b.s. How can one have ANY respect for this assclown?

"The vast majority of Americans not only support the inclusion of gay service members in the military, but also the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. As many as 75 percent of Americans support openly gay service members in the military. This support commands undeniable majorities for men and women, liberals and conservatives, veterans and non-veterans, all age groups, and across the religious spectrum."
Complete and utter, BULL!
"“Americans recognize that forcing men and women out of the military on the basis of sexual orientation is not only blatantly discriminatory, but harms our national security and, indeed, runs counter to the values of our Armed Forces. We cannot afford to lose any more of our soldiers to the vagaries of outdated bigotry.

"Outdated bigotry"?!?
You jackass. Every gay is now a walking, talking, breathing, Bio-Hazard! If they are wounded in a fire-fight, or by any action, that area becomes a HAZMAT ZONE. The diseases they can spread to their fellow soldiers, medics, doctors and nurses are innumerable -- and a slow death sentence for anyone infected.

Really, who in their right mind would HELP an outed gay soldier that was wounded and his blood and guts were all over the place? YOU mr Hastings? Yeah right. You'd call in the CDC and the guys in the 'space suits'.

So its not bigotry you moron, its about one's OWN LIFE. Enlisting in the Military is dangerous enough, BUT -- it isn't supposed to be a possible Death Sentence due to some political correct ideology. (You might as well play Horseshoes with vials of Ebola)

If openly gays are allowed in the Military it'll be their death sentence too. As soon as they hit 'Indian Country' they'll be one their own. How's that for being politically correct mr Hastings.
