Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison says she will vote against confirming Sonia Sotomayor to be a Supreme Court justice.

She said Tuesday she is concerned about Sotomayor's views on the Second Amendment on the right to bear arms. Hutchison is from Texas, where the population is more than a third Hispanic.

My question is if Sotomayor is a shoe-in anyway, why the hell doesn't EVERY Republican vote against her?

She's wrong for the court and they all know it.

Linguine for spines on our side of the aisle.

True. So far, only five Republicans have announced for her. Harry Reid has already admitted that she won’t get as many votes as John Roberts did.

Every Republican should vote against her simply for the grief the Democrats provided when Republican presidents made nominations to Federal Court.

Considering Sotomayor’s spurious bench record the future looks bleak for The Constitution.

Happy... I am. Thinking that she fools me into believing that she would actually vote to deny soto-mayor (mayor leftist... mayor liberal, mayor affirmative action wh0re, mayor anti gun, mayor anti-Second Amendment, mayor anti-Constitution activist, mayor pain-in-the-arse ****) the robes if she weren't running for Governor and slamming to the right of her natural liberal philosophies... PRICELESS!..

I think you have it backwards. She's voting against Sotomayor.

I'll be holding my nose and voting for Perry in the governor's race; but Hutchinson isn't a RINO.

How could she be a rino if Bonnie Erbe and you like her?

By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

Kay Bailey, we’ll miss you! Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson has made public her plans to leave Washington, D.C. and return to her home state of Texas to campaign for governor:

In an interview Wednesday on WBAP-AM of Fort Worth and Dallas, Hutchison said she wants to stay in the Senate long enough to fight President Barack Obama’s healthcare plan. She said her departure will be some time in “October, November, in that time frame.”

Sen. Hutchison represents a vanishing breed of moderate Republicans whose disappearance is turning the GOP into the Party of No. She’s seen by right-wing conservatives as pro-choice, even though she has a more nuanced opinion on abortion rights. She’s seen by liberals as anti-choice. That places her squarely in the murky middle occupied by the vast majority of mainstream voters:

Hutchison can be a moderate on some social issues such as abortion and stem cell research, but is a hard-line fiscal conservative who supported all of President George W. Bush’s tax cuts and more. One of her biggest issues in the Senate has been trying to overturn the “marriage penalty,” which causes some married couples to pay more taxes when filing jointly than they would if each person filed seperately [sic].

She’ll need to spend a lot of time building up a muscled campaign warchest. As a moderate, she’s going to have to convince a lot of Texas GOP primary voters NOT to vote for Gov. Rick Perry, a social conservative. Best of luck, Kay Bailey!

"I'll be holding my nose and voting for Perry in the governor's race; but Hutchinson isn't a RINO. "

Hutchinson is voting against Sotomayer only because she is running for governor. If she wasn't running, this RINO, would vote for here just like she did the AMNESTY Bill.

She sent SodaNoBrains an apology note with a large gift certificate for the chi chi plus sizes ladies store in the Beltway.

Inside was a note, “Sorry I had to vote against y’all, #1 wise Latina babe (you are just so hot!), but Texas needs me so so badly for governor. You all understand. I’ll see y’ll at Friday night’s cocktail party.”

Sotomayor is a Puerto Rican from New York City. I have thought from the beginning that it was condescending to assert that she represents all “Hispanics.” What does she have in common with Texans of Mexican ancestry?

I await the day when we celebrate the first “Asian” on the Supreme Court. Will he or she be Japanese and will the Chinese be pleased at that? Perhaps he or she will be Pakistani, and will the Indians be pleased at that?

If I’m not mistaken, about 20 Senators have announced against her.
