Ive never been a big fan of Sarah Palin not because I ever thought she was exceptionally bad but because she never struck me as exceptional, period. By 2008, George W. Bushs Republican Party had wrecked the Right and that Palin became famous by spending four months parroting the same, discredited agenda for John McCain didnt exactly make her a credible conservative in my eyes, much less a new champion for the Right. Yet, I understood why grassroots conservatives desire for such a hero would lead them to Palin, whose beauty and backwoods charm, made her the perfect symbol for so many frustrated, middle-class Americans to rally around.

Agreed. I thought it was, whether intentional or not, insulting.
What she didn't say was that she could see Russia from her house. That was Tina Fey.
Then why did the U.S. do nothing about the Soviet gulags?
It is not the job of the United States government to go abroad looking for evil dragons to slay, much less the job of the U.S. government to compel by threat of force its citizens to pay for such an agenda.
Palin was more “moderate” than the media will concede. Or maybe independent is the better term. Thus she was able to work with Democrats until she gained the nomination. After that they turned against her for voicing a lot of ideas that many Alaska Democrats also support, which would include more control over local resources. It is their turning against her that made her job impossible, because the corrupt faction of her party also was against her. Like many another true independent, she has been opposed by the professional pols whose main aim is to stay in office forever.
Bump
“backwoods charm......... what an arrogant thing to say.”
Indeed. Palin has shown that she has boardroom charm, executive charm, international charm; the gal is just plain charming.
Consider me charmed!
It is the job of the United States to seek out dragons in their lairs when they threaten to rain fire on American citizens. Even the unmilitaristic Jefferson saw the need to take on the barbary pirates and follow them into their ports. Unfortunately he could not follow his own logic to its conclusion and build a proper blue-water navy.
Agreed, but soon we may use it anyway.
Neville Chamberlain was a cowardly and amoral idiot in his time as Ron Paul is in ours. Isolationism is not a movement likely to have a shelf life again any time soon. Thank God.
Patton and MacArthur thought we should have gone after the soviet gulags and after the existence of the soviet state. Unfortunately, spineless politicos would not follow. The US also had Curtis LeMay available in those days. Better by far to destroy the anti-American dragons in their lairs than to have them reach us as on 9/11. Paulie's notion of going on autosmooch in the presence of the enemy's naked butt is not a prescription for long-term survival. Are you another "free trade" enthusiast? Should we sell Ugo nuclear boomers or attack subs? Sell carriers to Red China? ICBMs to all comers? Our entire weapons catalog to Ahmanutjob? If not, why not???
What are people with Ramsay Clark's foreign policy doing here or calling themselves "conservative?"

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
No, Sarah Palin became famous after delivering a knock out speech at the Republican convention. In one terrific speech, she did what McCain could never do, solidify the conservative base.
Palin is taking back the mainstream from those who falsely define it. There is nothing mainstream about liberalism, the media or SNL morons. Sarah Palin IS Middle America!!!
Sarah is correct, you actually can see Russia from Alaska? It's a fact.
I research people’s background and beliefs.
Any person who is anti war and connected with those who are 9/11 Truthers hold the same views of the far left,
the Code Pinkos, Michael Moore, etc.
I was waiting for someone to set the record straight. Thanks.
You can see Big Diomede which is in Russia, from Little Diomede which is in the USA.
Thanks for making that point...the media/actors twisted her words, what she stated was the truth.
Conservatives are always called out when they get their facts wrong. Liberals on the other hand are not, and can therefore play fast and loose with the facts.
Based on this I always give the conservative the benefit of the doubt and assume the liberal is lying unless proven otherwise.
And I would vote for Clarence Thomas because he is just like me. And I am white.
It may have seemed out of context ONLY because certain crucial parts were edited out of the interview by ABC. Courtesy of Mark Levin, here is the entire relevant passage. The bolded underlined parts were edited OUT:
GIBSON: Lets start, because we are near Russia, lets start with Russia and Georgia.Who's responsible for her statement being taken out of context? Not Sarah Palin. And those bastards wonder why she doesn't trust them. The administration has said weve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?
PALIN: First off, were going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCains running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And weve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable and we have to keep
GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.
PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. Thats why we have to keep an eye on Russia.
And, Charlie, youre in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. Theyre very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.
GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: Theyre our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.
You are absolutely right.
About six months ago, when I first posted this image of Sarah holding Trig, a fellow freeper replied: "I would take a bullet for that woman".
That is why the left is terrified of her.
