George Voinovich makes a southern offensive

WASHINGTON Sen. George Voinovich's comments about the U.S. Senate's southern caucus reverberated in Washington today. But publicly, one of the southerners Voinovich criticized declined to lash back this afternoon.
And Voinovich's own campaign finance records show he has had no problem whistling Dixie.
The story begins with a conversation the Ohio Republican had with editors from the Columbus Dispatch. When asked about the GOP's biggest problem, Voinovich told the Columbus newspaper: "We got too many Jim DeMints (R-S.C.) and Tom Coburns (R-Ok.). It's the southerners. They get on TV and go 'errrr, errrrr.' People hear them and say, 'These people, they're southerners. The party's being taken over by southerners. What they hell they got to do with Ohio?' "

This Michigander thinks the problem with the Senate GOP is too many Voinoviches. What's the difference between him and the dangerously incompetent Stabenow from my own state?

Go back to sleep, George.

Being in Ohio, I had to put up with DeWhiner ('til the Socialist, Sherrod Brown beat him), and with the RINO-in-Chief, Voinovich. Both were crap as Senators, and voted with the Democrats at every opportunity. I'm glad he's leaving, as he is almost as Conservative as Nancy Pelosi.
Unfortunately, Ohio is the home of the inner-cities of Columbus, Toledo, Dayton, Cleveland, and Cincinatti, and between those and the blue-collar union folks, a Republican has a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything.
I expect the next Governor to be Jennifer Brunner, the Sec. of State that counted all the ACORN early ballots as legitimate, along with the votes of the dead, cartoon characters, etc.

Also, I always thought Oklahoma was considered more of the Southwestern Great Plains than Southern. It has a lot more in common with Kansas than with South Carolina.
That's like comparing Ohio and Maine. Both are Northern states (although Cincinnati may balk at that), but they couldn't be more different.

Thankfully Senator V. has decided to retire at the end of his term. On behalf of Ohioans, I apologize to the nation for his chronic Rinoism.

Voinovich, this former Ohioan living in the south wishes YOU would go away. Now be quiet, RINO.
