It's symbolic, but Democrats have scored a victory [of sorts] over nine House Republicans who signed on to the so-called "Birther" bill -- getting them on the record in support of a resolution that explicitly states that President Obama was born in Hawaii.
None of the nine --
Reps. Marsha Blackburn [R-Tenn.], Dan Burton [R-Ind.], John Campbell [R-Calif.] John Carter [R-Tex.], John Culberson [R-Tex.], Robert Goodlatte [R-Va.], Kenny Marchant [R-Tex.], Randy Neugebauer [R-Tex.] and Rep. Ted Poe [R-Tex.] --
objected to the unanimous approval of a resolution honoring the 50th anniversary of Hawaii's Statehood last night.
The key clause, cleverly inserted by Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii):
"Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii;"
Few of the nine have actually questioned the president's Hawaiian birth certificate, just demanded more rigorous documentation of future candidates birth certs. So they probably don't mind the vote.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) briefly stalled the vote for a quorum call -- which prompted a string of erroneous blog posts accusing her of standing with the Birthers.

Legislators don’t read what they are voting on these days. They have a staff and lobbyists to do that. And in some cases the counsel of angry voters who call in to tell them DON’T VOTE FOR THAT &^*(^!!!
Since the “fact” was brought up in a resolution, it should have been debated on the flood. Submit evidence of the claim. It’s the reason that Bela Pelosi rejected the Resolution on Michael Jackson’s life.
What I want to know is why Ron Paul didn’t vote against this (he’s typically opposed most “feel good” resolutions). Did he abstain or vote yea.

I just called my other Congressman (family in two districts). GA Congressman Barrow. I asked why he co-sponsored Bill 593 and how he knew Obama was born in HI. The staffer informed me that Obama was born in HI and the federal government has confirmed it. He also told me that he himself had seen the BC because he downloaded it yesterday from the internet. I told him that I was not aware the actual BC was on the internet and was probably the COLB. At this point the staffer started talking down to me and really made me mad. I told him that I appreciate honesty and I was being straight out lied to and the Congressman had lost my support.

Murtha DID’NT vote; yet my ‘conservative’ Rep. Tim Murphy voted yes. Incredible. He usually doesn’t disappoint me...I guess I’ll be calling their office tomorrow about this.

We can pray. This full on assault on those of us that believe that Obama should release his BC records with the name of the hospital and doctor,etc. AND ALL OTHER RECORDS is unprecedented. It is very strange and I am starting to lose hope that our constitution means anything anymore. I have never been a ‘conspiracy’ type person, nor am I a nut. Something doesn’t add up with Obama and it’s like the powers in Washington and the media don’t care and refuse to look at the true facts surrounding this whole thing. This country is on the brink of collapse because of this marxist bastard and nobody cares!!
