Senate Judiciary Votes, 13-6, For Sotomayor (Graham votes "yea")
National Journal ^ | July 28, 2009 | Editors

Posted on 07/28/2009 9:17:42 AM PDT by MaestroLC

Along largely partisan lines, the Senate Judiciary Cmte backed SCOTUS appointee Sonia Sotomayor, Pres. Obama's first high court pick, this morning by a 13-6 vote.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was the only Republican to support Sotomayor. The Senate cmte's Dems voted unanimously for the Bronx native.

The full Senate will vote next, but with the Dems' 60-vote majority, Sotomayor's confirmation is all but a done deal. She will be the first individual of Hispanic heritage to sit on the SCOTUS.

>> Lindsey Graham is a panty-wearing loser. A disgrace to the GOP. <<

At least she will be taxed for the “lop-it-off-of-me”....

Good job South Carolina.

Putting McCain on our 2008 ticket, and letting Linthey Grahamethy continue his RINO ways.

Little Lindsay has got to go... is he up for re-election next year?

Oh please. South Carolina has just reelected him in November. He is not up again until 2014. He could care less about anything he does in 2009. South Carolina is definitely the laughingstock state lately. Lindsey and lover boy Sanford sure are proof of this.

The majority always has more than the minority. Republicans had loads more on committee when they were in office. The problem??? The Republicans always got scared when Democrats got mad or said something nasty about our Supreme Court Nominee and instead of fighting for the candidate they would just name someone else.

“Lindsey Graham was just reelected last November with 58% of the vote to 42% for the Democrat. He won’t be up for reelection until 2014.”

RECALL

US Senators cannot be recalled. Only state officials. Senators can be impeached and removed.

Lindsay “Goober” Graham officially weighs in as a treasonous POS helping to destroy everything there is (or was) to love about this country. What the **** does it mean when these lawmakers take an oath to defend the Constitution?

Now, thanks not only to her Latina status but also to Goober, the freakin'-idiot-and-militant-ideologue Sotomayor will be easily confirmed and we'll be stuck with the ***** for 25 or 30 years.

While I can't pretend to know what God is doing with us, by definition, it's good. Maybe this is just another thing leading up to the second American revolution. (This time, let's bring Canada along, too.)

Thanks for the mention.

If our side would fight in unison we could prevent some of this Obama stuff. As it is, our guys seem to be more focused on making sure they don’t win the House or Senate back next year.

Why should we go out and work our fingers to the bone only to be betrayed over and over again?

We really do need a clean sweep of Congress, at the very least the go along to get along dregs on our side of the isle.

sorry, I meant the 13-6 vote to favorably refer the Sotomayoer nomination to the full Senate.

Yes McCain went from a recall effort against him to Republican nominee for President.
The federal courts interpreted the Constitution as not allowing recall of federal elected officials when there was an attempt to recall Democratic Senator Frank Church of Idaho in 1967.
There are still people who maintain that attempts at recalls should be tried. The courts sometimes change their precedents.

will south carolina voters remember this when Sotomayor uses her negative vote against the second amendment (or any constitutional issue) and Graham is up for re-election?

“Lieutenant NoBalls” acting true to form I see.

Separated at birth? Let's see...
  1. Dopey look on face? Check.
  2. Simpering and annoying? Check.
  3. Lacking firm grasp of any situation? Check.
  4. Lending unwitting political support to a tyrannical cabal? Check.

OK, that confirms it. Separated at birth:
Senator Lindsey Graham and Jar-Jar Binks

Graham’s sellout of conservatives has nothing to do with crude rumors about his sexual orientation.

Getting to the real point, Graham sure looks like a fool being the only Republican on the committee to vote for Sotomayor. I wonder if he thought other Republicans would join him. He certainly has egg on his face now.

Recall by whom? He won by a large margin. Those voters are quite familiar with Graham over the past years and widely supported him. Nothing can be done.

He ran for re-election last year and I think the GOP political machine manipulated the primary so Senator Shaham could win.

They ran SC GOP chairman Buddy Witherspoon as his opponent, a weak candidate.

Getting rid of RINO’s isn’t easy.

We had to pull teeth to get Arlen Specter to become a Dem here in PA.

We have been constantly resisting GOP insider efforts to put up other insider candidates to take out Pat Toomey in the primary next year since Specter left the Republican Party.

Senator Graham is a fool if he thinks the Dems will reciprocate one day... Out with these false conservative legislators. Time for a new Conservative Revolution.
