Beneath the top line numbers is a huge gap between the way that white and black Americans view the situation.

The 26% are the Obama supporters who have put all their egges in one basket and have no alternatives.
Dug their own grave if you will.
I’ve always been partial to the “light fuse and get away” strategy of conversation. It’s made me a few friends and more then a few enemies.
Personally, I think obamas comment was brilliant. I don’t give too much credence to the pundents, but the seething anger that I’ve experienced since then shows that he really hit a nerve. What amazed me is that he did it with what; 20 words?
The stories that have come out of the woodwork are nothing short of amazing. “We got pulled over for no obvious reason on washington blvd” What you were driving on washington blvd? You’re not the right color for that! I know - but my parents live there. Then he mouthed off to the cop and I had to bail him out of jail the next day. what a pain that was!
Sok, tho, I live in a place where losing time from work because it was “jump out day” only solicits a “Gee, thats sucks” response.
Enjoy your police state. Someday you wont look “normal” and you’ll understand how we feel.
For Obama to preface his statement with 1) He didn't know the facts. and 2) He was biased because he's friend of Gates, tells one helluva lot about how he expected it all to go down.
Here's an ego maniac who's so sure that the press and the public will fall swooning to their knees and kiss his feet that he comes clean right away that what's next out of his mouth probably could be taken the worng way. He's just an arrogant enough @$$ to think he'll get away with it and come out smelling like a rose. With all his adoring fans and media cover how could he ever be wrong to begin with?
IMHO thats exactly what he thought the reaction to his response would be. I think he was taken completely by surprise that it wasn't.

Well, yes. You might say he responded, uh, stupidly.
