The former has a “certificate” number and is referred to as a certificate. It is not fraudulent generically. It is what is issued currently by the state of Hawaii. I agree we need to see the latter document given the fact that the former can be issued regardless of where the individual was born. And there are some real questions about Obama’s copy.
No, its just not "best evidence". It is a secondary, derivative docuement. A certified reproduction of the as-filed "Certificate of Live Birth" is certainly preferable, and can be obtained from the State of Hawaii on request. And, to the best of my knowledge, a primary document is REQUIRED for certain purposes, such as applying for a passport, or enrolling in Little League.
That certificate number is the number of the archival "Certificate of Live Birth". That's why it is described as the "Certificate Number" and not the "Certification Number." It is a reference to the primary document.
So, they know the Certificate number; pull up the file, copy it and give the nation a respite from all this nonsense.
