The Obama administration and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can no longer be considered a neutral broker in the current state of affairs in Honduras. Heres why.
For the past few days, the Administration and Secretary Clinton have cautiously opted out of the negotiations in Costa Rica. In fact, the State Department hammered the point that we need to support the Arias mediation effort because its the best way to go forward.
Day after day, the message from the State Department has been that we should let the negotiators negotiate and ultimately accept the outcome from the Arias talks. But in what seems to be Secretary Clintons first conversation with Honduran President Roberto Micheletti since the removal of Mr. Manuel Zelaya, Secretary Clinton joined the likes of Venezuelas Hugo Chavez and other leaders in the region and warned President Micheletti of serious consequences if he did not back down and allow Mr. Zelaya to return to power.
party who calls itself a neutral broker does not make phone calls in the heat of negotiations and place ultimatums on one of the negotiating sides. It is increasingly apparent that the Administration is really not a neutral broker, but instead a friend of the thugocrats, or caudillos, in the region who seek nothing more than to be leaders for life....
...As for the United States, we should restart all aid to Honduras immediately.
I believe that Mr. Zelaya should return to Honduras in handcuffs. Mr. Zelaya broke the law, and unless the Obama Administration believes Mr. Zelaya is above the law, he should face a judge and the people of Honduras as any normal citizen would.
I plan to travel to Honduras this weekend...The people of Honduras deserve our support more than ever right now

Ping to the Honduras folks.
“I believe that Mr. Zelaya should return to Honduras in handcuffs. Mr. Zelaya broke the law, and unless the Obama Administration believes Mr. Zelaya is above the law, he should face a judge and the people of Honduras as any normal citizen would.”
Obama et al are quite possibly interested in setting a precedence that might well be friendly (at least in terms of talking points) in the event that he one day finds himself in a similar circumstance.....eligibility notwithstanding, this guy almost daily violates his oath of office, the Constitution, or on-the-books Laws.
I’m enjoying hearing this from Connie Mack.
Bump!
(unless the Obama Administration believes Mr. Zelaya is above the law,)
The Obama administration is an abomination of collective communism and misery for all except themselves and they are certainly friend of dictators and terrorists and communists worldwide.
How can 56% of Americans be so ignorant? Education without wisdom is a dangerous thing and governments are full of such evil, despicable people.
I agree with Connie Mack that all aid should be restarted to Honduras. But Obama and Hillary are too firmly entrenched in their wrong position.
Zelaya is of course a thug and dictator wanna-be. Hussein and his criminal administration are obviously on the wrong side in this thing, accompanied as usual by the lapdog media. But how come? How does it benefit Hussein to support this little banana republic bum? When Hussein himself tries this power grab in the US, Zelaya will be of no use to him. So what is his point?
Has the smell of the Carter Administration....except much worse.
It's because Zelaya is a tool of Chavez, and Chavez, thanks to his alliance with Ahmadinejad and the Russians, is extremely well armed and is planning on taking over Latin AMerica for Marx. Obama's kind of guy!
I just read that Zelaya’s suporters at the Honduras border are drifting off and going home.
