i´m not shure that this old lady wasn´t operated because it was too costly. it should be said that it´s not so uncommon not to operate very old people. (has little to do with the cost factor but very much with the danger to not survive a operation in this age .)

No, under 0bamacare unauthorized proceedures will be illegal. She’d have to go to Switzerland.

I always feel a little bad for the 80 year old papa who has to teach his 16 year old son how to drive.

Actually, Americans over 65 are already on government health care. My father in law was turned down for a hip replacement due to age by Medicare. He paid out of pocket.
Unless the law changes, I will opt for my employer’s sponsered Blue Cross (private) plan when I retire. They provide slightly better coverage than Medicare and are reinbursed by Medicare for medicare “allowables”.

My mother has New Horizons by United Health care and we found out that if Medicare didn’t pay for something then neither did New Horizons. She had to get rehab therapy (after something too long a story to tell) and we ended up with a 10k bill. We appealed and of course the administrative judge found for the insurance company.

American feds don’t want that to happen. They want to prevent the woman from getting the treatment, and take a pill for a “peaceful death.”
To: Aria
Can’t you buy ‘medicare supplemental insurance’ to cover stuff like this. I plead ignorance on this subject, due to my age.

There are many reasons most Dr's (even in the U.S.) would not want to operate on an 83yr old....which were adequately outlined in the article.
With that said....the emphasis here should be on having to wait an entire year to get a diagnosis. What a shame..

Too old, too fat, too stupid, too disabled, useless to society, smoke too much, drink too much, don’t exercize, too ugly, retired, crippled, terminal illness, besides everybody has to die sometime and just think how much money we can save the taxpayers by letting them go quickly.
