Jon Klein e-mails 'Lou Dobbs Tonight' staffers that legitimacy of the president's birth certificate is a 'dead' story but doesn't order them to drop the issue.
CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein told staffers of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on Thursday that the controversy regarding the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate -- a topic Dobbs has avidly pursued on the air -- is a "dead" story.
But in an interview, the cable news chief left open the possibility that Dobbs may continue to raise questions about why the president has not produced a long-form birth certificate. The absence of such a record has spawned rumors that Obama was not born in the United States, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.
"He's got more than 30 years as a television journalist, and I trust him, as I trust all our reporters and anchors, to exercise their judgment as various stories evolve," Klein said of Dobbs, whose daily CNN program is a mix of news and opinion.
"Certainly if there are future news pegs, then we have to take that story as it comes," he added.
That appeared to be a step back from the stance Klein took in his e-mail Thursday, in which he wrote that CNN researchers had determined that Hawaiian officials discarded paper documents in 2001. Because of that, Obama's long-form birth certificate no longer exists and a shorter certificate of live birth that has been made public is the official record, they reported.

It really seems as if there is an effort by the left to define this issue purely as an issue of Obama’s birh certifcate and place of birth. Why?
The birth certificate issue is really only a secondary issue. The undisputed fact is that Obama is not a ‘natural born citizen’ being that his father was Kenyan and not an American citizen.
Not one of them has touched that fact of this issue in their reports.

That`s the first I have ever heard, that there is NOT a long form birth certificate.
WHY doesn`t Lou ask about the missing school records, it seems to me it`s all part of the same story.
This may very well be the reason why the psuedo reversal of the dead story comment. Lou may have threatened to walk and I’m sure that Murdoch was sending a limo to the front door.

It may be TOO LATE! There are now some constitutional/legislative “theologians” who say that even IF the DemocRAT votes COULD be found to impeach him, that Obama is legally UNIMPEACHABLE, if in fact he is not a native-born American. They say that, because then he would never have been eligible to hold the office in the first place, and so is NOT the President, and thus CANNOT be impeached! The articles simply would NOT APPLY to him. If so, HOW would he be removed from the White House? Perhaps via an ordinary EVICTION process?
Even our own State Dept won’t accept the short-form “Certification of Live Birth” for a passport application! Why accept it for a Presidential candidate?
The bc issue is not secondary when it is proven the online photoshopped COLB is a deliberate forgery.

While the above is true for many, my guess is that most believe obama was born in Hawaii. We take a lot on faith. What is at issue is whether or not he is a natural born citizen as the Constitution requires a President to be.
I am sick of this issue hanging out there with no resolution, with obama's supporters and attackers not having facts he could easily supply and end this once and for all. He acts like someone with something to hide.
I would suspect that many things woud come out in discovery which is why the left and Pravda MSM are tring so hard to defin this issue as being only about the bc.
There is no dispute as to his status as a NBC and the Court should rule on that alone.
I am suspicious as to why the left-wing talking points are leaving that fact out.
I don't think the silly photoshop job matters one way or the other, unless a chain of responsibility for its appearance is documented. Obama's supporters put it on, and they point to it as "proof," but no one has closed the loop to him as the provider or initiator of it, and it hasn't been provided to a Court or in any sworn document as his "proof."
Don't get me wrong--I think the guy is a fraud in many ways, but I don't think the fake COLB in and of itself proves it in the legal sense.
Besides I think that the bc issue is secondary because it rests on something that still needs to be proven. Primarily there is a question that the Court should have to answer that requires no proof at all in regards to Obama and that is - Do you need to have two American citizen parents to be a ‘natural born citizen’. I think that the MSM is intentionally ignoring this question.
You are totally correct.I had to get my long form BC from the state I was born in to receive a passport.They would not except my certification of live birth document.
More BS spouted from the MSM. They say that because the records are in electronic form and Hawaii no longer ISSUES a copy of the longform ( according to Okubo ). However, that does not mean it doesn't exist and cannot be accessed. By Hawaii law it does and can be accessed.:
From the Hawaii Revised Statutes:
92-31 Disposition of original record. A photograph, microphotograph, reproduction on film, or electronic form of a government record shall be placed in conveniently accessible files and provisions made for preserving, examining, and using the same. Thereafter, a public officer, after having first received the written approval of the comptroller as provided in section 94-3, may cause such record, paper, or document to be destroyed. The comptroller may require, as a prerequisite to the granting of such approval, that a reproduction or print of such photograph, microphotograph, or reproduction on film, or electronic form of the record be delivered into the custody of the public archives for safekeeping. The comptroller may also require the delivery into the custody of another governmental department or agency or a research library of any such record, paper, or document proposed to be destroyed under the provisions of this section.
So, either the original microfiche copy is still available or a complete reproduction of it in electronic form is available. To put something in electronic form and not copy all the data on the original document would be against the law. Where these files have to be accessible and provisions have to be made for examining them, it would be misleading for the Department of Health to say that the information on the original Certificate of Live Birth ( the longform ) is no longer available. Under Hawaii Revised Stautes 338-18, those with a direct and tangible interest in the record are permitted inspection of public health statistics records. That would include either the microfiche or electronic copy of the original Certificate of Live Birth.
