Mormons: The Most Conservative Religious Group In America

That's according to a new report from Pew, released today and based on data from the group's 2007 U.S. Religious Landscape Survey.

More Mormons (60 percent) identify themselves as conservatives than any other religious group; they also lead every other group in GOP party identification (at 65 percent)--much higher than the general population in both categories

Since getting rid of Romney is a mission of freerepublic you will run into a lot of criticism of facts about him here.

I don't believe Romney believes in socialism (the government ownership of business.) He believes in capitalism.

It matters not what the man 'believes'.

It DOES matter, however, on what legislation he has signed off on!

I am primarily interested in Health Care right now. That is the issue on the front burner.

Indeed!

ANY more rules from Washington will only FURTHER our dismise as a country.

The ONLY 'solution' toi the mess is to get OUT of the medical business; but, alas, there are very few that are willing to do this.

I think the tipping point HAS been reached. The LIBs are FULLY in control of the propaganda processes in this country.

There has got to be a better way to fight socialism and abortion than to sign it into law.

I felt it in my bones for a while now that Jim Robinson did not like the LDS.

to turn this thread and make it about Romney when it was talking about the Church!

>>”Uh... I doubt very seriously the Amish are left of the Mormons.”<<

You better do your homework on the Amish way of life. They don't just sit around and make good bread. These are the same people that forgave the scumbag that shot and killed a bunch of their little girls in school.

Wife-beating and child molesting are common in their SOCIALIST structured society. The women are ruled by the men. I live in an area that is heavily populated with Amish and I can tell you that they are pompous, arrogant, rude and hate the “English”. That would be nearly every white anglo person. They do use electricity and have phones etc. They rely on local fire department to help when their barns/houses catch on fire. They do visit hospitals. Few vote in elections or the military service. They use our public funded roads without paying for the privilege.

It it a fools errand to compare the Amish to the Mormons.

>>”Could very well be, but just like any other group of people there are some Mormons who are socialists, abortionists, gun grabbers, etc.”<<

Indeed there is. But you will find that the percentage of those that vote for gun control etc. is MUCH lower than in other groups and religions.

I’m surprised that you have fueled the flames of anti-Mormonism, Jim. Even though your statement rings true for EVERY religion, group, club, etc. Polarizing people is a tactic of 0bama and his ilk, not someone of your stature and well-earned respect. Please explain.

From my experience Mormons in general are very conservative. That is one reason why it perplexes me that their church has a fairly liberal position on abortion; allowing for abortion with the permission of their bishop.

The other thing that bothers me is that, despite their evident conservatism, they will willingly throw away those convictions to almost unanimously support Mitt Romney, who by a good number of measures is anathema to conservatism. That tells me that those convictions do not run very deep but are pretty much worn on their sleeves.

I think Jim was referring to one Mormon in particular. Of course, if you criticize that particular Mormon for his liberal political past and his flip-flopping, there are always some who slither out from under rocks to call such Mormon-bashing.

If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!

Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.

Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).

But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

G.O.P., R.I.P!

Yeah, I know. Who cares? Don't let the door hit you, Jim. Good riddance.

One can fuel things just by allowing and ignoring as FR nothing for years while Fr happily received our donations it is not rocket science.

He knew he could count much on of the LDS good nature to do little about it and years ago did just enough to seem neutural.

Heh!

And mormon belief, until 1978, prevented blacks from taking part in rituals that would set them on the path to "exaltation".
