NAZIS PLAN TO KILL INURABLES TO END PAIN;
German Religious Groups Oppose Move
Berlin, Oct. 7.- The Ministry of Justice in a detailed memorandum explaining the Nazi aims regarding the German penal code today announced its intention to authorize physcians to end the sufferings of incurable patients.
The memorandum, still lacking the force of law, proposed that “it shall be made possible for physicians to end the tortures of incurable patients, upon request, in the interests of humanity,”

In Medical circles the question was raised as to just when a man is incurable and when his life should be ended.
According to the present plans of the Ministry of Justice, incurability would be determined not only by the attending physcian, but also by two official doctors who would carefully trace the history of the case and personally examine the patient.
In insisting that euthanasia shall be permissable only if the accredited attending physcian is backed by two experts who so advise, the Ministry believes a guarnatee is given that NO LIFE STILL VALUBLE TO THE STATE WILL BE WANTONLY DESTROYED. (emphasis mine)................................

I expect it to be more "friendly" than that, as with the provision for senior citizens to receive "end-of-life choices" counseling.
As people get old and feeble, they become more dependent, and trusting, of others.
So, it will become easier to convince them to "take this nice little IV full of morphine, 'cause it will make you feel sooooo much better......"
All four of my grandparents died slowly and painfully in their twilight years, due to various ailments, but as far as I know there was no talk among them or their children of "end-of-life choices".
It was just expected they would stick it out to the end. It was those old-fashioned Christian beliefs that made them believe that you have to take what life gives you, I think.
Guess this is a different time.

I have got to get me a Hawaiian birth certificate that reduces my age by 20 or 30 years.
My stepfather was dehydrated against our wishes 4 years ago and my mother in law received the same non-treatment 2 months ago. It already happens and fighting it takes everything you have sadly in our cases we still don’t win.
The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care and believe me, it's tempting
While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my friend the other day, I think we have found the solution. I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you are a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Lets take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this. The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.
Many years ago, doctors and hospitals went all out to keep people alive. Some of these measures were termed “heroic”, and many people were upset that their doctor was not listening to them, and they were being kept alive artificially and they were not being allowed to die with dignity.
The legislators responded, and now you can write up medical directives and living wills, to allow your medical representative to pull the plug should you not be able to.
My recent experience when my dad was in intensive care was very different than it was 30 years ago. The culture of death is already pervasive.
Within 2 minutes of his intubation, a rat-faced dr. with a weird accent, was telling me to let him go-and painting a dire picture.
If you are on medicare, and insist on living, this hospital will then push you to have a trach and peg within 1 day of entering the ICU, so they can ship you to a long-term acute care unit (found in large metropolitan areas).
They tell you this is necessary to “wean you off the ventilator”. The real story is: that you are costing them money for every additional day, and transferring you saves their bottom line.
When you enter the hospital, they ask you your code status.
Full code means all measures are to be tried to keep you alive.
Code 2 means many options will be tried, but so called heroic measures such as cpr, ventilation tube, artificial nutrition, hydration, defibrillation, are not allowed.
Code 3 means comfort measures only. You get drugs to prevent your pain, no antibiotics, no heart medication, etc.
nothing that would “interfere with the natural art of dying”.
Of course, there are all sorts of variations such as Full code except for CPR, for example. Crickets are chirping as long as you don’t want to try to live too long.
But should you be elderly, and desire to try all the wonderful medical options, that God has allowed man to develop, then they will twist your relative’s arm, and imply they are being cruel by trying to keep you alive.
