Lindsey Graham is going to feel awful lonely on the Republican side of the Judiciary Committee dais during next week's Sonia Sotomayor confirmation vote.
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who admitted he was very conflicted over his vote, has just declared that he will oppose Sotomayor's confirmation. None of these Republican "no" votes will make a difference, as Sotomayor still may get upwards of 70 votes for confirmation before the full Senate.
Hatch just issued a long statement, but here's the key passage:
"After thoroughly reviewing Judge Sotomayor’s record and being able to hear her testimony and responses during the hearing process, I reluctantly, and with a heavy heart, have found that I cannot support her nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court," Hatch said.
"In truth, I wish President Obama had chosen a Hispanic nominee that all Senators could support. I believe it would have done a great deal for our great country.
Although Judge Sotomayor has a compelling life story and dedication to public service, her statements and record were too much at odds with the principles about the judiciary in which I deeply believe. "

I am shocked, and I owe Hatch an apology because I previously posted that he would rough her up a bit, then have a love-fest with her and then vote for her. I was wrong.
Then, sometime after Reagan was elected, he lost his balls and wanted to make friends and play nice with the Democrats.
Looks like he found them again!

Those Senators who both vote to confirm an obvious racist, affirmative-action supporting, intellectually dishonest lightweight for our Nation’s highest judicial honor and who are running for re-election next year should have an entertaining time explaining her decision regarding hard-working WHITE firefighters to their pre-dominantly “pale” constituencies.

Here's a thought- How about showing some guts and stating the obvious that she's an unqualified, mediocre product of affirmative action and racist? Which in truth, is what she is. Hatch just told me he's voting NO for all the wrong reasons. Typical for a moderate republicrat weenie.
You know, this stuff all adds up. Sotomayor is not that popular among ordinary folks, I would guess. Obama has been losing popularity rapidly. The Red Pill Plan is being postponed until after the summer break. I’m not sure if Orrin Hatch has grown a pair, or if he sees which way the wind is blowing.
If Lindsay Loser wets his finger and sees which way the wind is blowing, maybe he’ll switch now, too. It’s one thing to vote for her when she looks like a sure thing. It’s another if it puts you out on a limb and risks future re-election problems for no good reason.
Congratulations Senator for standing up for equal rights for all Americans, and preferences for none. Sotomayor is a vicious racist, a proud member of the Mexican KKK, a bully, a tyrant, and a common bigot. She has no place in a position of power.
We give the man for Utah too much credit. This was a safe one for him. He is no leader, he has been on the stage too long, was compromised years ago, and he is an enabler of the left. He needs to be extracted from the Senate. Ask most Utahns and they would replace them in a second.
