The U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, is warning Americans to be aware of a new spike in cartel-related violence around the border state of Chihuahua and recommended travelers avoid the northwestern portion in particular.
Drug cartels and associated criminal elements have retaliated violently against individuals who speak out against them or who they otherwise view to be a threat to their organization, regardless of the individuals' citizenship. The U.S. Consulate General urges all Americans to exercise a high degree of caution when traveling to Ciudad Juarez and within the state Chihuahua, read the text of the message issued July 17.
The consulate said Americans should defer non-essential travel to areas inside the boundary drawn from Puerto Palomas, south to Namiquipa and Madera and west to the Chihuahua-Sonora border, including the area around Nuevo Casas Grandes, because of a series of kidnappings in the area. Offiicials also said the Guadalupe Bravo area southeast of Juarez also should be avoided.
The border ports of entry that lead to the designated areas are at Columbus, N.M., and Fabens and Fort Hancock, Texas.

Why not pull the boys from the Middle East (50,000 or so) and rid the US and its border of illegals and gangs?
That would make too much sense.
I wouldn’t go anywhere near Mexico even if someone gave me the trip for free.
One of the FOX news guys got carried away and said there were 575,000 National Guard troops massed along the border yesterday.
I wish.
Ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
That would be something.
Doubt they would appreciate the *deployment* though.
In 2008, the feds uniformed military at the check points in South Texas. They were in place and very visible, but they were in the spots where lawbreakers and illegals weren’t. I run the valley from Brownsville to Laredo frequently and it’s been a joke for 20 years. The border patrol does a good job, but their hands are tied. Then you get the Ramos/Campion travesty, and nothing will change.
