"Heath is in my district and it’s pretty conservative."

If my two choices are either a "Blue Dog Democrat" or a RINO, I'll pick the RINO every time. There may be bills from time-to-time that the RINO will support that I can't stand, but the RINO will vote for Republicans (mostly conservative Republicans) in House and Senate leadership positions. Shuler voted for Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House. It's in the leadership positions that all the powers lays.

The discharge petition lacked 28 votes last time. As someone who is a member of a grassroots immigration group that lobbies on the Hill and at the state level, I don't share your view that this is DOA. The economy and massive unemployment has put a lot of pressure on Congress to ensure that American jobs go to American workers.

NumbersUSA worked closely with Shuler on this bill. It may very well have a shot. Besides the economy, the Dems who favor amnesty realize that they must show some progress on enforcement. It is the reason why the Sessions amendment on E-verify and the DeMint amendment on the double layer fencing were passed as part of the DHS bill.

FYI: E-Verify passed as part of the House version of the stimulus bill, but it was stripped out of bill in conference. Now we have the opposite taking place with the Senate approving e-verify. It is up to the House to decide what to do on the Senate version of the DHS bill.

He’s posing for re-election. He does not want this and he knows it has no chance of even getting to the floor for a vote. But it will look good in a campaign commercial for the ignorant in his district.

Your local GOP needs to find a Reagan Republican, preferably a younger articulate veteran to take this guy out and return it to the GOP.

I agree. The guy running against Shuler in the last election was an idiot. The best chance to unseat a Representative is in their first re-election contest and we didn’t come close. Unless there’s a 1994 type shift in 2010 or a brilliant candidate (none on the horizon) I think Shuler wins.

yup. For whom did he vote in the Speaker election, huh? If the RNCC had any brains (I know, I know, but it COULD happen) they would begin EVERY campaign commercial with Congresscritter XTZ voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. Do we really need to send him/her/it back to Washington?

Heath Schuler is a feckless DEMOCRAT asshole. I don’t want to hear a thing about his so-called consevatism. He votes the Pelosi line almost all the time.

O Perdue is governor, a graduate of Gore’s fuzzy budget math. Here is an illustration of her little power problem: Perdue proposed a “temporary” emergency 1% sales hike. When asked what assurance do we have that it is temporary (the last 1/4% temporary is still there) she said “Because I am the governor”. I heard the clip on Take A Stand with Mattt Mittan. Really interesting budget and stimulus figures as well. She was a gift of Obama’s straight ticket, and worked in the Corrupt Easley governorship. Honestly, we might have gotten her regardless of straight ticket voters.

It would be interesting to find a female veteran, run her and see if Gov. Palin would come in and help. I'd guess given the western NC demographic Palin may be quite popular, at least useful to raise money.

If I were advising Palin, I'd have her pick out some races where she could help conservative candidates then go out and campaign for them. Hopefully she can make a difference and help the GOP and herself.
