“I just wanted to make a couple of comments. I heard one of my colleagues say ‘waiting in line,’ that people would be waiting in line for medical care. I would like to say that many of my constituents would love to wait in line for medical care,” Rep. Shea-Porter stated. “They are yanked out of line because they don’t have coverage.”

The GOP should use that in a commercial. “You need lifesaving surgery or you have 6 months to live. The bureaucrats put you on a 1-year waiting list...”

Show the quote...

and then “Thank You President Obama”

grave stone.

“They are yanked out of line because they don’t have coverage.”

BULL EXCREMENT....

I stood in an Indianapolis Emergency room on a Sunday Morning, LAST YEAR, and watched a PARADE of people tell the clerks, QUOTE: “ I do not have insurance, and I do not intend to pay!”. Not ONE was turned away.

I KID YOU NOT, these people actually said that!!!

This Democrat Moron needs to actually VISIT one of local Emergency rooms.

Yes, unless they live in the UofC area and are victims of the mrs. fascist patient dumping scheme, she is lying.

People who show up at any hospital in the US in serious or critical condition, are given treatment immediately. If they have no insurance they are put on title 19. There are long waits if you are not critical, yes. That should be addressed, but it is because people are treated regardless of insurance coverage. And because of the people who do not have a family doctor and use the emergency rooms for routine care or a cough.

The last time I was in an Emergency Room, there were numerous signs stating, in effect: “If you have no money or insurance, we still have to treat you, because it’s a federal law”.

Total Barbra Streisand -- no one waits in line in the emergency room either, you may be waiting your turn, but you are not doing it standing in line behind the fuzzy rope.

The more these people spout this crap, the angrier I get.

“They are yanked out of line because they don’t have coverage.”

Even the people who have $$$ and will be paying whatever the cost as they are released, finished? You tryin' to tell me that a business (hospital) will not take cash/credit card for service rendered, only a form filled out without proof that said claim will be paid is the way they run said business?

The clip from Cardin's health town hall (or whatever that was that Rush and the others are playing), the one man asking why he should be fined if he chooses not to carry health insurance (it is America, after all), I paraphrase Cardin's comeback, "What if you get into an accident, go to the emergency room, you don't pay, the cost is passed on to the rest of us?" No one has pointed out when playing this the absolute insult that Cardin lands this man, he knows for for a fact that his constituent is a total deadbeat, doesn't pay for the services he receives? That this guy doesn't have diner's insurance either, he eats his fill at restaurants but doesn't pay, the cost of that is spread among the other patrons?? I so wish the gentleman had retorted with a "How dare you?" (And if he did, no one has informed me).

Health care is not a right, it is a need. When necessary, it is provided to one by another, that provider is the one with the right, the right to compensation for his time/skill/service/equipment. We are in the bind we are because government got into the insurance business, and whatever entity (was it labor unions?) got medical insurance tied in to employment benefits long, long ago.

I very recently had an experience in the ER...scalp laceration. Not life threatening, certainly, but messy and needed to get some stitches.

I waited an hour to get looked at, was in-and-out in the same evening. No problems. Had I been at home, I'd have just gone to the local Urgent Care facility....there wasn't one open (all were 8-5) anywhere near where I was.

Also, I might *as objectively speaking as possible* state that I was the only one that evening who really needed to be there. Lady next to me was having chest pains.....serious, right? Doc asked her how they'd been going on and she said "Three Days, but I didn't want to bother my doctor" ('nuff said). Rest of the people had assorted sniffles and coughs.

The ER isn't much for emergencies anymore.

Keep in mind, the real goal is not about socializing medical care, it’s controlling all human behavior.

Don’t answer a fool according to his folly. Do not argue based on false premises.

Answer a fool according to his folly - ie, call him on his false premise.

There is no way to logically explain their stated goals with the policies they are attempting to implement and the “problems” they are addressing.

When you examine the real goals, then it all makes sense.

Unless you are independently wealthy, you really, really, really don't want to pay cash. It is very expensive believe me, I witnessed this first hand with a Canadian in one of our emergency rooms. Brutal

Oh, trust me, I know the costs, been there, done that, had the multi-thousand bill awaiting payment. It’s just the idea that unless you’ve got a Blue Cross (or equivalent) card, you won’t pay the bill, yet another outrageous charge by these elitists.

"If they have no insurance there are long waits if you are not critical, yes. That should be addressed,..."

No they shouldn't. Critical is one thing but non emergency procedure leeches ought to wait a good long time. Shortening the wait merely encourages them to come back for every sniffle, broken nail and headache.

Obviously. By addressed I meant correcting the using of ER’s for non emergency stuff.
