Toyota Motor Corp. has decided to liquidate its stake in a California manufacturing plant that it jointly operated with General Motors, a Japanese news agency reported Thursday.

The Japanese carmaker will begin negotiating with the "Old GM" starting next week, Kyodo News reported, citing unnamed company officials.

Toyota spokesman Mike Goss would not confirm that the Japanese automaker had made a final decision on the fate of Fremont, California-based New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., also known as NUMMI. Goss said Toyota will begin negotiations with the GM officials about the plant and added that the company is conducting an "extensive review" of its production needs.

Anyone that thought Toyota was going to operate a UAW plant without GM was dreaming.

No way will they allow those slugs to slither into Toyota owned plants!

“The joint venture was developed to have American workers learn Toyota’s production methods, which were much leaner and more efficient. The UAW has not been able to organize workers at a Toyota plant in the U.S.”

The last sentence says it all

They should have thought of that before they voted for Obama.

They were telegraphing this move the other day. It didn't take them long to come out in the open with it.

Oh red dog, I miss that country, too. I miss GW, I miss how he loved our troops and they loved him, I miss how GW 'GOT IT' and spoke routinely of his love for our country and his love for God.

I miss feeling secure like I did under the leadership of GW.

I miss being a nation that sticks to its constitution and does not apologize for doing what is right and good and that shares its freedom with others.

I miss having a REAL LEADER instead of a special interest racist nutcase.

I love that GW called the WH 'America's house' as opposed to uhbama calling it his.

I miss dignity and grace flooding our WH instead of arrogant michelle with her staff of TWENTY TWO (oh geeez, it gags ya) and uhbama (with his family trips on our dime).

I just miss grown ups.

It was a skank payoff/buy, by Toyota, to get GM to not run to Washington and get the pols to keep Toyota out of the US.

For Toyota, it was a cost of doing business in a corrupt country. No biggie, they operate all over the world.

For GM, they got Toyota to make them some cars that they couldn’t design, or make themselves.

But, now Toyota doesn’t need GM as GM/UAW have stuck their last needle of incompetence in their arms.

By the way, you can buy Toyota stock (TM) on the NYSE. Today, up 2 percent.

Bush was economically slightly less worse than Obama. Barely.
