Military police are investigating a double-shooting today at the Fort Lewis after a man fatally shot a woman inside the base's main post exchange and then shot himself.
The one at Fr. Bragg is like a small mall.
I've had a couple of friends (officer and enlisted) who were stationed at Aviano...they all loved it.
More likely an oft-deployed Soldier (say SF or Ranger) just found out about his wife banging some other dude. Knows she’s at the PX, immediately drives over there, BANG BANG, she’s dead. It happens.
Of course, it’s never happened so close to me at a PX my family and I regularly shop at.
I’m so glad that Fort Lewis doesn’t allow concealed-carry. I could’ve been utterly helpless just like all the other folks in there.
Sorry to be so clueless, but what is TDY?
Temporary Duty.
Ya, but getting shot is forever.
Had several ugly event while at Nellis, a high TDY base. Had a guy couple of houses over on base - got shot by his old lady.....died on the neighbor’s doorstep.
Never did understand a lot of the cheating I saw - I mean, why bother to get married if all you do is cheat on the wife?
I was sent to Ft. Lewis just after the shoot out between a few rangers and some drug dealers. I believe it was “on the hill.”
I miss that post and I miss the area. Prayers to everyong at Ft. Lewis during this stressful time.
I spent a number of years at San Vito AS as a child. It’s beautiful country. I’d love to go back.
you spent a year as a village rat, too :)
Camp Casey, day shift, Dong du Chun, night shift, 1974-75 here....
PX is the Post Exchange (Super Wal-Mart).
7-Day Store is the QuickieMart and Package Store is the liquor store!
I didn't care much for people that do that. If your own wife can't trust you, why should I?
“Package Store is the liquor store!”
We still call it the Class VI Supply.
TDY is Temporary Duty assignment. Say you are attached to Charlie Company, 2nd LAR Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, but they need your MOS (military occupational specialty (job)) for a six month tour on a Mediterranean Cruise - you get TDY orders. When the cruise is over, you go back to Charlie Company.
My cousin is a doctor stationed at Lewis.
I have heard that too. Just that the crews that I ran with usually just called it the package store.
Try three years...lol. I initially went over on a one year tour and the Brigade Commander asked me to extend for a company command, and after he left, his replacement asked me to extend for a Provost Marshal's slot in Yongsan...
...I ended up going over there the week Ripken broke Gehrig's record, and didn't fly back until the week McGwire broke Maris's record...
Class Six would be like a QuickieMart. PX is the Post Exchange. Kind of a department store.
Don’t forget the “Class Six.”
(If memory serves...)
PX = post exchange. It’s kinda like WalMart.
BX = base exchange. Same thing, different branch.
Commissary = groceries.
