My company has a similarly worded policy. Not to mention the ‘diversity’ training we must also take.

Seriously though, as a former USMC officer, diversity is not a strength in the military. The military is a team effort, and weak links/affirmative action officers do not make the team stronger. Regardless of their skin color, religion or any other criteria.

What a bunch of Marxist BS. We used to value excellence and achievement now egalitarianism is the ultimate goal. The PTB have been trying for centuries if not thousands of years to contain, control and force “one world” mainly for nefarious reasons but even if for altruistic ideas the fact that you must force people into it destroys everything that ever made our country great. Western thoughts and ideas are NOT universal ideas.

So this drivel from our government begs the question just what is an American?

A few years ago, Professor Fleming was at the heart of a firestorm in SHIPMATE (USNA alumni magazine) over an aspect of the perceived preferential treatment given to minorities. He and I had a few heated email exchanges until I came to realize that he really does have the best interests of USNA, the USN and the nation at heart. I am now at least a lukewarm fan of his, although I would doubt that you will ever see him on FR. In any event Dr. Williams is as always right on target.

And yet, they have yet to show ONE STUDY showing actual benefits of “diversity”. There are studies showing the OPPOSITE, but none showing any benefits.

Japan, for example, is a very homogeneous society, and also very successful.

And the Balkans would be the example of “diversity” and its “benefits”.

Diversity is the rationale people use to replace qualified white males with less qualified or unqualified women and minorities. Rather than choosing the “best” applicant (no matter what it looks like), it is an excuse to hire minorities on the basis that they bring something to the job that white males lack. No one has EVER shown that a racially diverse group functions better than a homogeneous one. In fact, I think all the available data shows that it significantly reduces productivity and cohesiveness. Diversity required that you believe that hiring less skilled workers INCREASES productivity, a proposition which is ridiculous on its face. Non-diverse groups are capable of phenominal accomplishments, like putting men on the moon. Does anyone seriously believe that we would have gotten there sooner if there had been a bunch of C students on the team?

Another tale in the sad decline of the Naval Academy, which has devolved from a great training ground for Navy and Marine Corps leaders to just another good engineering college with uniforms. Several Commandants ago, the Marine Corps stopped granting automatic commissions to USNA graduates -- instead requiring them to complete the two-Summer Platoon Leaders Class (part of the Officer Candidate School) at Quantico. The Corps had to protect its Marines and itself.

Diversity in itself is not a strength. Diversity is a potential weakness that must be overcome with unity -- a sense of shared identity and purpose. Diversity programs are destructive because they highlight differences at the expense of common identity and purpose. Such emphasis no differences is the essence of "Balkanization."
