Another tale in the sad decline of the Naval Academy, which has devolved from a great training ground for Navy and Marine Corps leaders to just another good engineering college with uniforms. Several Commandants ago, the Marine Corps stopped granting automatic commissions to USNA graduates -- instead requiring them to complete the two-Summer Platoon Leaders Class (part of the Officer Candidate School) at Quantico. The Corps had to protect its Marines and itself.

Diversity in itself is not a strength. Diversity is a potential weakness that must be overcome with unity -- a sense of shared identity and purpose. Diversity programs are destructive because they highlight differences at the expense of common identity and purpose. Such emphasis no differences is the essence of "Balkanization."
