The robber killed by a pharmacist in May died from gunshots to his body, not the shot to his head, the state chief medical examiner confirmed in the autopsy report.
Antwun Rayshaun Parker, 16, of Oklahoma City was knocked out after being shot in the head and would have survived that injury, Dr. Collie Trant told The Oklahoman.
Pharmacist Jerome Jay Ersland is charged with first-degree murder in a case that sparked a national debate. Prosecutors allege he went too far because he shot the robber five more times after knocking the robber unconscious with the shot to the head. Ersland said he acted in self-defense. He said in a nationally televised interview that he thought the robber was getting up.
The autopsy report released Tuesday describes the first wound as a "non-fatal gunshot entrance/graze wound to head.
Trant explained the first shot involved a three-pellet shell.
Parker was shot five other times to the chest and abdomen, the autopsy report shows.

If you had seen the video there would be no question.
I haven't seen the video but from what I understand, and I may be incorrect, the perp wasn't able to be seen from the vantage point of the video camera.
If the perp woke up and made a sudden move would that be justifiable considering that the perp had already shot at the man?
I'm not trying to get into an argument.
I'm just saying that absent any other type of "proof" the statement of the man that he thought the perp was getting up should be taken seriously and not thrown out with the wash water.
If you get a chance to see the video you will see exactly what I mean. There is absolutely no sense of urgency or response to threat in what the druggist did after the initial few seconds. imo he will be rightly convicted.
Just remember, there is such a thing as jury nullification.
With the present thought by many normal people that things have gone too far, it could happen.
“Rightly convicted” based upon the fact that the perp is out of sight????
Makes no sense.
DU has a place for you.
“”you must stop shooting when a reasonable man would consider that he ceases to be a threat.””
“An unreasonable standard if your life was just threatened by multiple armed thugs.”
I don’t see how that is unreasonable. When an attacker stops being a threat you can’t shoot him. If there are multiple attackers, you are free to engage until they stop being a threat. It makes sense that in the midst of an attack by multiple thugs, engage the most dangerous one, not the one that has already been “apparently” neutralized. If you haven’t read “In the Gravest Extreme” I highly recommend it.
I see that you are one of those childish freepers who close off discourse with classic wit like, “DU has a place for you.” Have a nice day.
DU is the place where people sob over dead armed thugs.
Bizarre behavior!
We might as well have a better idea what we are posting about. It’s even worse for the druggist. At no time does the dead robber have a gun in his hand. He was still struggling to put on his mask when he walked in the door. The body was on his back with his arms stretched out wide.
Oopsy.

Please, do not post facts...it confuses the kids.
I’m doing this for the lurkers for the same reason my CCW instructors have eight hours teaching the Texas Criminal Code.
Hacklehead mentioned Ayoob would probably add another chapter to his book on this one. It will be either a very long chapter or just a link to this video.
At one time, there were some real gun experts on this board. Boy, do I miss them.
Some people on this board don’t realize we are trying to HELP them avoid prosecution, and that there are standards with regard to shooting someone in self defense. I sincerely hope that they never get the opportunity to test their “shoot them over and over as they lie motionless on the floor” theory in court.
Bologna. The video corroborates the pharmacists story. He can be clearly seen lurching for cover to his left and then firing. You're either willfully misreprenting the truth, legally blind or you have not seen the video from the pharmacists back.
Either way he'll never be convicted when the jury sees that video. It is exculpatory.
You can't help anybody by being willfully ignorant of the facts.
Exactly. I am spending my time trying to educate the new people who have just bought firearms on this board. You’ll notice even when someone just asks questions on which firearms to buy, there’s always some poster who’s advice I wouldn’t take on a bet.
I used to wonder about Massad Ayoob’s advice but no longer. His book is mandatory reading.
1.The robber was shot in the head as he was putting down his mask at 55 seconds of the video.
2.There is no gun in his hand.
3.The druggist turned his back on the dead perp as he went to the locked drawer to remove the second firearm.
4.The coroner stated the first gunshot left the dead guy unconsciousness.
5. No firearm was found on the dead robbers body.
6. The arms were outstretched.
These are some of the facts the DA is using to jail the druggist.
Also complicating the situation is the fact that the perpetrator that ran from the pharmacy was the only one of the two that brandished a gun during the attempted robbery. As I remember it, and I could be wrong, the police found no gun on the thief on the floor.
The robber was unarmed and still trying to get his mask on when he was shot in the head. Check that video at 55 seconds.
