They use "spoof numbers" so you can't call them back, and can't block them because the number that comes through is always a different number. What the man did was wrong, but after you've gotten three calls a day from these evil rotten @$$holes for a week in a row, it's tough not to want to cause them harm. Believe me, I've been there. They always hang up on me, however.

Fortunately the calls have stopped ever since the recent finding against one of these companies. I hope the government eventually cracks down on them and takes every dime every one of the owners, founders, executives, employees, even the janitors, has, or ever hopes to have.

Do not misunderstand my post as a defense of telemarketers. I hate them. Should they call my house despite being on the do-not-call list, I'm never less then mean.
I also work from home (virtual-worker) and have a “NO Soliciting” sign 2 inches above the doorbell. I nearly came to blows with a couple guys who chose to ignore that sign and then didn't have the good sense to walk quietly away when called on it. When I tell someone to get off my porch, the rules of engagement are much more on my side when compared with someone who calls my house.

I worked for companies that had their own sales departments, and we, as sales representatives, would call people to make sales for the company. But, some companies hire outside telemarketing firms to make calls, and the telemarketers calling me at home these days aren’t very knowledgeable, are very rude, don’t care, hang up on me when I ask a question, etc. I can’t imagine how they’re making any sales.

They’re even rude when I’m the one calling them. I called a company and was disconnected twice because I asked a question that was taking them off script, I guess. If I ever had a business, I would never contract with a telemarketing firm.
