Free Republic is a co-sponsor of the 9-12 March on DC. We are not the organizer. There are several grassroots organizations involved. We're just one of the co-sponsoring organizations.
Like the thousands of protests our FReepers have organized, co-sponsored, or attended in the past, it is a peaceful protest. There has never been any violence at any of our protests. Ever! And NONE of them ever have been armed protests. Neither is this one. No arms. No violence.
And no we are not taking over the government. We're simply exercising our first amendment rights to peaceful assembly and to petition the government for redress of grievances.
Among other things, we are protesting the government's alarming slide into socialism, Marxism, fascism.
We are protesting the government using hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to bail out or take over banks, financial companies, insurance companies, car companies, or any other private enterprise.
We are protesting the government spending trillions of our tax dollars on ill advised and ineffective stimulus packages.
We are protesting the government raising taxes on energy which will raise the costs of every product and service manufactured or delivered in America. Costs will soar for every product or service sold to every consumer, even on the most basic and required goods and services. This is a huge disguised tax increase on ALL Americans!
We are protesting the government's foolish and admitted attempt to bankrupt the electricity, oil, gas and coal producing industries. This is absolute madness! Our country, our industrial might, our military might, our businesses, our households, all Americans depend on electricity, oil, gas and coal for fuel, heating, manufacturing, transportation, national defense. Crippling these core industries would bring America to her knees and bring about the greatest depression this world has ever known.
We are protesting against the introduction of government provided health care or health insurance. Health care is a private issue. We do not want government bureaucrats making our health care decisions for us. We do not want government workers deciding who is worthy of health care and who is allowed to die, or even encouraged to die.
Health care is a private enterprise and should remain as such, other than possibly local clinics and assistance to the poor and truly needy. There is no constitutional provision for a federal health care system. We are still a free country and would like to remain a free country.
We are protesting against all of these foolish, expensive, unconstitutional and unnecessary socialist/fascist policies and acts that are driving up our costs, driving up our taxes, driving up our debt, driving up unemployment, crippling our economy and weakening our nation.
If you think government is too big, too expensive, too much into socialism, Marxism, fascism, etc, and too far out of control and acting beyond its lawful constitutional limits and would like to loudly say enough is enough, then please join us in D.C. on September 10 through September 12.
So we selected a hotel that had enough rooms and a large enough banquet and ballroom facility to handle our large group. And we negotiated a rate for the rooms and banquets so that the total cost for the rooms plus the banquet dinner and brunch events would not be that much more than what it would have cost for the rooms and meals only if each person had to book with the hotel at the regular non-discounted individual rates. Yes, the tickets are a bit on the expensive side, but then a facility that can hold a nice banquet dinner of 400-600 people, plus other extras costs quite a bit and we had to commit to a certain number of attendees and a cost per person.
We also wanted to make sure it was a nice event. A tent on the mall with hamburgers and hotdogs did not seem appropriate.
We also wanted to attract some nationally known and well-respected conservative speakers. That means we must have an attractive and secure venue. So, we have what we have. And I think it's doable for most folks that can make their way to D.C.
Again, this national Freeper convention is separate from the National Tea Party Protest and in no way should detract from that great event. Even if you can't attend our convention, please try to make it to the Tea Party Protest in D.C. Our Liberty depends on it!

Rebellion is brewing!
DONT TREAD ON ME!!
See you there!
I have no idea. Have never been involved in registration efforts. I’d only assume that plans for attendance will increase as the date gets closer and people are better able to firm up their commitments. Doubt that all the people attending will bother registering. We had nearly 20,000 people attend our 4th of July Tea Party in our tiny little farming community of Tulare, CA and I would suspect that many times that number would show up at a nationally promoted event in Washington, DC, being organized and sponsored by some of our leading grassroots organizations.
My hubby and myself don’t have a lot of money. Is there a way buses could be chartered in cities for a fee to whomever would like to be a part of this?
The more people the better the point gets across.
Blood is in the water, we need many sharks.
Obama must go ASAP, or else be seriously neutered.
Leftists are by definition nuts and greedy little power hungry psychotic bastards. Witness Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez, Obama. They love enslaving people and herding them around like cattle. Must be because they all hate their fathers and dream of doing their mothers.
Cool!
JimRob, how sad is the current state of affairs in America that you have to clarify *everything* in advance before the state controlled media reports FR as “right wing gun-toting, Bible thumping, African-American/gays/lesbians/transgenders hating, non-bathing, hillbilly hick not-with-it backwards neanderthal extremists planning to attack Washington, D.C. in September!” *sigh* :-(
Still, wonderful that FR is going to be a part of THE REBELLION in September, wish I could be a part of that! Will be praying for everyone’s safety then, God knows what HolyO might do—call out the National Guard to prevent you all from protesting peacefully anywhere in the nation’s capital?!! Wouldn’t put it past him and his puppetmasters! :-( Oh, and please be careful of plants!! The enemy is a crafty wicked one we are fighting!
Sheesh. If you want to organize your own march and feel you can be so much more effective than us, please do. But please quit trying to rain on ours!
Thanks!
See you in DC!! If you’ve got the guts.
I’m sure it’s possible. You might check the organizer’s website and see if anyone is making plans.
Y’all try to remember, 250 million people did NOT vote for this unholy mess!! And they are stirring out there in the real world, waking up when they reach for their wallets to pay for the higher prices in the grocery stores (it’s already begun, inflation, that is) and at the gas pumps—when their paychecks come up 50% or more short of what they expected to pay the taxes on all these ‘save America because everything is George Bush’s fault and we’re going bankrupt so we have to spend moremore MORE money to halt bankruptcy’ garbage programs—
Elections are right around the corner. Democrats better be looking over their shoulders starting *NOW*!!!
JimRob,
You are soooooo BAD!!! :-)
I LOVE IT!! LOL. Keep kicking sand in Goliath’s face—we got your back! :-)
You mean things like overwhelming liberal websites with internet traffic, like they’ve tried to do to FR and other conservative sites? Or literally blocking roads with cars? I think the website idea is better. :-)
I’ll keep that thought in my prayers, that many more than imagined will show up.
I’ve never questioned your ability to organize a march. In fact, I’m sure it will be very well organized.
I don’t think those in the Capital Building are laughing. No one laughed at the Iranian, Honduran, or Chinese protesters. We will not be laughed at. Will we prevail if the unborn are not included? Is it only less taxes and freedom we want, or Life and Liberty under our intended Constitution.
Is that site linked at the top of the page somewhere?
Right at the top. It’s listed in the source of this thread.
Thank you. Do you have a link for that website? I would sit and sleep on a bus to protest Obama.
Thanks, but I’m not the organizer. Just a co-sponsor.
Thank you very much.
If ObamaCare and Cap and Trade both get passed America goes down the tubes. We’ll be rebuilding from the ashes.
