Democrats reverse Obama on auto dealerships (Even Dems are tiring of the Hugo Chavez Wannabe..)

The House passed a Treasury appropriations bill last week that includes an amendment reversing President Obama on the closure of nearly 800 Chrysler car dealerships and more than 2,000 GM dealerships.

The amendment sponsor was Republican Steve LaTourette of Ohio. 215 Democrats and 4 Republicans voted for the overall package. Bipartisanship!

The most snort-worthy reaction from the White House:

The White House said Wednesday it strongly opposes the measure, arguing it would “set a dangerous precedent, potentially raising legal concerns, to intervene in a closed judicial bankruptcy proceeding on behalf of one particular group.”

White House warns this could “set a dangerous precedent, potentially raising legal concerns, to intervene in a closed judicial bankruptcy proceeding on behalf of one particular group.”

Oh, the irony! This is EXACTLY what Obozo and his little rat car czar did: intervene in the bankruptcy proceeding and shut down bondholders' rights in favor of the labor unions. The utter hypocrisy is breath-taking.

Not like that precedent of re-writing the bankruptcy laws to set the Unions on top and the secured creditors on the bottom....nothing like THAT....

His administration seemed to have no problem at all "intervening on behalf of one particular group" (i.e. the unions) when they bypassed the bankruptcy rules as to who is on top of the list for being repaid by pushing the creditors down the list.

You know, I get the feeling that a few more months of this moron and most of Congress will be looking for ways to get him out of the White House. Heck, even the MEDIA’s will be sick of looking foolish covering for him.

“set a dangerous precedent, potentially raising legal concerns, to intervene in a closed judicial bankruptcy proceeding on behalf of one particular group”

They have some nerve using this language. I suppose they don’t consider their actions as setting a dangerous precedent.

Has anyone noticed that this is the second bill that just squeaked by? (the other being Cap & Trade). Sure are a lot of Blue Dog Democrats voting against Pelosi - with her permission, of course!

How many of those dealerships are already ‘gone’? It’s been a few months since this decision went into affect. I imagine that many closed their doors even as the political/legal battle was heating up.

At that point ol’ Obozo’s BC might just come in handy for them!

The utter hypocrisy is breath-taking.

Unfortunately, the utterness of the hypocrisy is no longer breath-taking, as it has become commonplace with each new day exceeding the prior day's hypocricy.

For more details. Encourage your senators to support passage of this amendment. The article says they have an uphill battle in the Senate.

Interestingly, Chrysler and the WH said this measure was needed to save money. I hardly think the lawsuits that would ensue over this ‘theft of property’ by the Federal Government would save anyone money.
