Palins numbers are extremely good for all the reasons given by many posters.

Most importantly, I’m positive Palin herself would prefer being slightly behind at this early time.

Can’t see her losing to Mitt ... she will squash him.

Hey great! Just run Pat Buchanan why don’t you? He’s super extra fruity conservative! Really! I want to WIN elections, jackball, not sit there with my head in my hands, trying to convince myself that I should feel good because I voted my principles. Now if winning is clueless, good luck in 2012, because you’ll have more than a couple of clues. Like the one about you being a moron.

Hey, if you want to win elections, why not just move to Murtha's district and join his campaign? He's almost sure to win! Just think, if you had joined Obama's team in 2008, you would have gotten to be on the winning team, too! You have plenty of winning options if you're flexible enough, principle-wise.

I understand your complaint and what you’re getting at. But from a pollster’s perspective, pitting the current-favorite opponents against the incumbents is an interesting exercise. It shows the strength of the incumbent’s position against various possible options. We’re still in a somewhat-free country and pollsters are free to drum up interest by polling for the most interesting results they can come up with—while the media are free to in turn publicize the same.

This is my opinion as a straight woman, speaking for myself and no others: from a perspective of image: Romney - good pedigree, right education credentials, attractive: great hair and smile - look: PRESIDENTIAL. Is he my candidate of choice - no, but I will look and see what the future holds. Image sells in this society, it should be ideas and what you stand for but sadly this is not the case./Just Asking - seoul62......

You really aren't doing Palin any favors right now. If you care to check my post history you will find I have frequently been accused of being a “PalinBot”.

Yes I think the statement that you would “vote for Obama over Romney” was asinine. That doesn't make me a RINO. If you had said you would vote third party over Romney or Obama I probably wouldn't have given your post a second thought.

Do you have conservative values? If so, I can’t understand WHY you would have a problem with others standing for THEIR conservative values and not voting for people that, at best, are in the squishing middle of not standing for anything.

If you do not have conservative values, I’d like to ask why you’re here?

. ..and not bad numbers given Obama just six months into job. Of course, the ‘illegal’ voters probably not polled, right?

Good grief! You don’t know that. I’m amazed at all the posters who claim they’re clairvoyant and foresee the future. Who knows what will happen? Who would have thought the last race would have been between Obama and McCain? No one at this point.

Silly me I thought the role of news organizations was to inform their consumers and not to cure their own boredom. In our system, it may make sense to name an incumbent who is still qualified to run but by naming a self generated list violates time honored tradition by becoming the news rather than reporting the news.

Your comment that this is still a free country is one reason we are experiencing many of our problems. There are times when liberty and freedom are better served by recklessly asserting our rights to the detriment of a civilized society. By assiduously asserting our rights others' rights are also preserved. Our rights are unalienable and do not atrophy from non use.

Ronald Reagan might disagree with you over the atrophy part.

Frankly, I don't give a damn what you think. Like I said, I would vote for Obama before I'd vote for that socialist, abortion-loving RINO Mitt Romney. The GOP needs to be purged of its RINOs, and I absolutely refuse to help Romney even if he does get the nomination, ESPECIALLY after the way his minions have tried to damage Palin.

This is how we ended up with Meghan McCain’s father as the Republican answer to Barack Obama in 2008.

Isn’t it a little naive to think that democrats polled are going to be truthful? Why give an answer that may lead to republicans actually fielding the strongest candidate?

Democrats know that through polls and open primaries they can influence the republican choice with the objective of sidelining the candidates they fear most.
