I think I'd want to see the details. I doubt seriously that this is for a single unit of 2lb ham. More likely its a contract to supply a large quantity of such 2lb hams to Military and Government installations around the world. Before I get outraged, I'd like to see the details of the contract (the Statement of Work, and or/ Performance Work Statement). If in fact it is for just a single ham, then of course I'd be outraged, but I doubt that is the case.

Periodically, our county government must publish the names and amounts paid to everyone receiving money under the county budget. Wouldn’t it be neat if having a transparent government meant actually telling us what was going on? My local community can do it. Why can’t the feds?

This is the amount PER package or unit, not the total amount of food sold to the gov’t. It’s food for distribution to needy people apparently.
