Why We Must Ration Health Care (Obama media prepping Americans for rationed care)
ny times ^ | 7/19/2009 | peter singer

You have advanced kidney cancer. It will kill you, probably in the next year or two. A drug called Sutent slows the spread of the cancer and may give you an extra six months, but at a cost of $54,000. Is a few more months worth that much?

If you can afford it, you probably would pay that much, or more, to live longer, even if your quality of life wasn’t going to be good. But suppose it’s not you with the cancer but a stranger covered by your health-insurance fund. If the insurer provides this man — and everyone else like him — with Sutent, your premiums will increase. Do you still think the drug is a good value? Suppose the treatment cost a million dollars. Would it be worth it then? Ten million? Is there any limit to how much you would want your insurer to pay for a drug that adds six months to someone’s life? If there is any point at which you say, “No, an extra six months isn’t worth that much,” then you think that health care should be rationed.

you guys are WAY too optimistic - it will take the government bureaucrats about 7 months to decide whether or not to administer the drug...

After months of hearing Obama claim he wasn't going to ration anyones care, we can now chalk up another lie in his arsenal.

Singer didn't write this without Obama’s permission.

“Lack of rationality, autonomy, and self-consciousness”

That sounds like your typical adult liberal.

Why We Must Ration Health Care
. . . is nothing but a rationalization of the fact that you want to ration health care - it is an expression of the lust for power which is the defining characteristic of socialist apparatchiks.

We don't have to ration anything, but you despise any ability of the people to provide for themselves.

Now imagine that you, the taxpayer, are going to bail out this little bourgeois cretin with your hard-earned dollars.

Yes. Perhaps the NYTimes has received some sort of hint that by publishing articles and editorials designed to "condition" the public to health care rationing, they'll receive a government bailout. (Just the way Obama bought off the AMA, the AARP, and the pharmaceutical industry with phony promises of largesse.)

"Would Obama ration trasplants? you bet."

How about this one .........since you are too old to be treated and would pass away in 6 months with treatment anyway, but........ you do have excellent corneas that a younger person down the hall needs, we are going to take them. Thank you very much.................. you old fool who voted for me and my hope and change!

It will have to be debated in committee, approved by congress and signed by Obama then there's a 30 day wait period before it becomes official.

This sounds a lot like the pro-abortion argument back in the sixties. Then, it was "what if your wife were raped by a black man?" Today it's, "how will bearing a child affect your figure?" In this instance, today the figure is $54,000. Ten years from now it'll be a hundred bucks.

It’s true. The typical adult liberal is a zombie, a walking automaton with no self-will or self-direction, accepting each thought that is doled out to him/her with absolute and total certainty of its correctness. They are “on the dole” when it comes to thinking. On the dole from the educational establishment. On the dole from the MSM.

H*ll no. We'll be much better off with some faceless socialist bureaucrat thinking of patients he or she never sees only as statistics and determining who lives and who dies.

...and the Social Security adm paid $700,000 for Biltmore Resort therapy for its managers because many received death threats....hmmm.....

Sounds like the Biltmore will be receiving many more reservations....

Why is Ted Kennedy getting any treatment right now?
Because the Socialist Masters will always get the best of everything. It's the proles who will be rationed.

And there are 2 kinds of proles.

Prole#1 is the Socialist-Master-wannabe. She sees herself as rising into the ranks of the Socialist Masters any day now. She's totally deluded. She votes for Obama.

Prole#2 is the rest of us. And we are all guilty of Hate Crimes for criticizing the Socialist Masters and the proles who worship them (prole#1).

And how about this one?

We’ve checked the Acorn rolls and you didn’t vote for

Barry, therefor you’ll get limited or no health care.

Exactly. If the government is involved it certainly won’t be a debate over whether six months of someone’s life is worth a million dollars. It will be over whether six months of YOUR life is is worth a measly $750.

false humilty, false humility, you said it extremely well, so did he. You emphasized the incremental nature of much of the progress in a brilliant way, he emphasized the investment. Both are at the route of the American experience.

... people who really hate their fellow humans. Sadly it is not confined to liberals.

Very true. I think "just enough of me, way too much of you" is a temptation common to humanity, irrespective of political affiliation.
