In 1964, I was flying with several companions to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention when our small plane crashed and burned short of the runway. My friend and colleague in the Senate, Birch Bayh, risked his life to pull me from the wreckage. Our pilot, Edwin Zimny, and my administrative assistant, Ed Moss, didn't survive. With crushed vertebrae, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung, I spent months in New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. To prevent paralysis, I was strapped into a special bed that immobilizes a patient between two canvas slings. Nurses would regularly turn me over so my lungs didn't fill with fluid. I knew the care was expensive, but I didn't have to worry about that. I needed the care and I got it.
Now I face another medical challenge. Last year, I was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Surgeons at Duke University Medical Center removed part of the tumor, and I had proton-beam radiation at Massachusetts General Hospital. I've undergone many rounds of chemotherapy and continue to receive treatment. Again, I have enjoyed the best medical care money (and a good insurance policy) can buy.
But quality care shouldn't depend on your financial resources, or the type of job you have, or the medical condition you face. Every American should be able to get the same treatment that U.S. senators are entitled to.
This is the cause of my life. It is a key reason that I defied my illness last summer to speak at the Democratic convention in Denverto support Barack Obama, but also to make sure, as I said, "that we will break the old gridlock and guarantee that every American
will have decent, quality health care as a fundamental right and not just a privilege."

“shouldnt he be getting the visit from the death nurse?”
exactly!
Reading, reading....Whoa - I think I just threw up in my mouth!
“shouldnt he be getting the visit from the death nurse?”
exactly!

The US Senators get free healthcare at the top of the line in every case.
Kennedy is so disconnected with the American citizens he doesn’t know he receives it while WE pay for it
Which is why Congresscritters will be exempt from the latest health care reform they want to push on all of us.
When that fails, you go to the airwaves big time. The bill would lose another 10% of support from the sheeple overnight.
OK,nobody else has said it yet:Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.I thought that was the rule whenever the swimmer was mentioned.
It's because of Ted Kennedy that you have non-portable, employer-paid health insurance.
It's because of Ted Kennedy that your stuck footing the bill for "services" you're never going to need.
He's been forcing his labor-union-styled, worker's paradise health care down our throats for decades.
I hear he's going to die soon. I won't say more.
What kind of health care did you give Mary Joe K, you Obamahole?
MASSIVE HYPOCRSY PING
People as old and as ill as Teddy are exactly who the obamacare system considers wasteful spending.
Under obamacare people over a certain age (perhaps 50, or even 40) with malignant glioma will be offered pain killers and hospice services. How much has Teddy K spent to milk another 1- years out of a death sentence? Was it “worth” it?
Teddy Kennedy has a seizure, gets instant MRIs and numerous consultations all over the US, and then gets treatment with top specialist for his glioma. All paid for by your taxes.
This access to care would be forbidden by law to the moron peasants under the Kennedy plan.
To see what we peons will get, check out this video (the very funny) investigative reporter Stephen Crowders undercover camera adventures in Canada. It is truly a Must-See:

Kennedy is a fraud, a liar, a coward and an arrogant, self-absorbed lout. Without his last name he would currently be collecting welfare.
I thought it was drink and women, and tossing the latter in the first?
the one of the great days in my life will be the day Kennedy dies.
Teddy Kennedy’s goal, as well as many of the other rich elites in this country, is to maintain the gap between him and the plebeians who pay the taxes in this country. That is why they want to force you to drive a small car or use public transit, live in a smaller house, force your children in to government schools, ration your energy use, and ration your health care.
All of these initiatives have one thing in common - lower the standard of living of the middle class while exempting the rich. It is plain as day! And the sheeple go along with it.
“Ted would be dead by now if HE had Universal health care.”
Yes, the new death care plan will NOT allow us average Joes to call around for the best brain surgeon. No Duke for us.
yeah, teddy boy, you can never NEVER atone for what you did, no matter how you try to couch it in flowery language about a health care bill for everyone because too many people still know that, when character called, you ran in the other direction, determined to save your fat rotten neck over the neck of someone less fortunate.
