Just past midnight on Saturday, July 19, 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy drove his black Oldsmobile sedan off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island near Martha's Vineyard, just off Cape Cod. The Senator escaped a watery death, but a passenger in his car, twenty-eight-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, did not.

In the years to come, we saw a Republican president booted for a minor break-in, a Senate leader resign because of remarks at a birthday party, a patriotic soldier (Colonel North) attacked for trying to free hostages and arm freedom fighters, a black conservative publicly lynched because of his views...but never again a public airing of the manslaughter/murder of an innocent girl by the senior Senator from Massachusetts.
Correction. She was murdered 40 years ago by a drunk driver that would have been charged, convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. That is unless he is a millionaire.
And her killer is still voting our freedom away..Justice would be that Fat Teddy would die on the same day that Mary Joe was murdered..
BASTARD.
I have seen video of him at her funeral where he is wearing a collar.
What a piece of fiction. That collar doesn’t do a damn thing unless you have a serious neck injury.
It was all for show and the idiots that live in MA fell for it.
Wonder if Teddy will have a drink in her honor today.
Would Teddy benefit from his own health care proposals? Would his care be cut off at a certain point? Would they counsel him on assisted suicide?
He does have brain cancer.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if he died the same day, the same hour.
Not that I’m wishing for it. Just thinking how ironic that would
be and how all the news would spin it.
Has Teddy come out against waterboarding?
What about putting Al Queda in the back seat of Teddy’s car for a ride? Is that considered torture?
Actually, it’s the 19th, not “today”.
Anyway, do you think the proximity to the moon landing (just prior to it) may have helped quell any attention this story got?
Just as has happened hundreds of times, 1 “big story” becomes a non-story when something else “big” eclipses it.
He’ll have a drink in honor of the fact that her eight hours at the bottom of the river washed off any traces of DNA.
My only concern with his ultimate death will be all the drivel we will hear at his funeral about what a true patriot he was and how much he did for the country and how many buildings we will need to name after him.
Hell, I’m wishing it!
The idiots in MA don’t care.
Look at Klintoon.
Based on what I read about the HBO Teddy special I would say the media would not even make the connection. Isn’t tomorrow the 40th Anniversary of man landing on the moon. If I’m right wouldn’t that have moved a lot of the Teddy news to the back pages?
The people of Massachusetts would re-elect a Kennedy even if he were to commit murder.
Wait, they already did.
Actually it probably should have been manslaughter but murder sounds better.
Teddy Kennedy is a disgrace of a human life. I wonder if God will be as merciful in judging him as he was in murdering Mary Jo.
Very sad for the Kopechne family. She'd be in the flower of her grandma years today.
What a piece of fiction. That collar doesnt do a damn thing unless you have a serious neck injury.
It was all for show and the idiots that live in MA fell for it.
and the next generation just KEEPS falling for it....
