"It is harsh to say that, finally, Walter Cronkite was a deceiver, but it is the truth. It is necessary for the next-generation to know this history." Well said indeed! But it won't be long until the liberal apologist will start attacking anyone who dares to say such as this.
They simply can't allow the deception to be exposed.

Interesting piece.
Cronkite wasn’t revered at our house.
Earlier reporting on Senator Joseph McCarthy, etc., helped shape the opinion of my parents about Edward R. Murrow and CBS, I think. They hadn’t changed their minds by the time Cronkite came along. The years seem to have born out the accuracy of their opinion.

Condolences to his family...
However, Walter Commie or Uncle Commie was the one who almost single handily stoked up the antiwar sentiment here in the homeland and caused us to lose the war in Vietnam.
My respects go to the war veterans instead ... we don't owe any respects to any MSM people, or Hollywood, we don't need them to live our lives ...
There is something insidious about the subtle way Uncle Commie betrayed us and in a sneaky way used his " Uncle Walter " facade to fool the sheeple.
The commies in America knew what they were doing in grooming Uncle Walter to do their dirty deed in fooling America...
About his Fu*** Reagan comment live on TV ... well, it really shows his true face... just like Authur Godfrey getting ...

His nick name should be UNCLE COMMIE ..

I am sorry if I have to disagree with you about Uncle Commie.
We can NEVER say nice , sweet, fuzzy things about Communism when they take away our Freedoms, Bibles, Constitution, torture us, take away our loved ones, homes, possessions, our lives....

Excellent essay. You are one heck of a writer nathanbedford. Thank you for posting. And my condolences to Mr. Cronkite’s family and friends.

Good post but I disagree 100 percent. He was a liar and spewed those lies nightly...I have the experience of 70 years and he was merely the Dan Rather of his time...There were no opposing voices on TV and no Rush or Free Republic to call him on it..........
My grandmother was a Cronkite and we shivered at the thought of him maybe being a distant cousin..

I too remember him very well. My father sat transfixed by him each night as well. That said I came to despise cronkite as I learned more about him. What he did in helping to arrange the death of tens of thousands of American fighting men after HE declared we lost in Viet Nam is/was/and always will be disgusting.
In later years he proved what he was made of when commenting on gay “marriage” he noted that he might have considered “marrying” a man. His wife was still alive at the time. That comment struck me as pathetic lunge at the limelight from an old fool who had done America far too much harm already.

“In the early 90s he was pulled off the air by sayingThat fn Reagan.”
Do you have a source to back this up? I’m not defending Cronkite, I’ve just never heard this claim before.

Sorry I don’t have a link, but it is probably on you tube. It was a panel discussion on famous war correspondents, and Cronkite said something like, “If it weren’t for that F’n Reagan”, then they cut to a commercial. I was watching with my dad, and we burst out laughing. When the show came back on, Cronkite was absent, and they continued their conversation as if Cronkite had never been there. It was hilarious!
