BETHEL, N.Y. - Welcome to middle age, Woodstock Baby — if you're really out there.
The babies reportedly born at the Woodstock festival 40 years ago remain the most enduring mystery from that chaotic weekend that defined a generation. Depending on the source, there was one birth on that patch of upstate New York farmland between Aug. 15-17, 1969. Or two. Or three. Or none.
There is some tantalizing evidence. Singer John Sebastian is captured on film announcing that some cat's old lady just had a baby, a kid destined to be far out. A couple of surviving witnesses say there were births.
The concert's medical director told reporters at the scene there were two births: one at a local hospital after the mother was flown out by helicopter; the other in a car caught in the epic traffic jam outside the site crowded with more than 400,000 people.

At Woodstock in 1969, Hoffman interrupted The Who’s performance to attempt a protest speech against the jailing of John Sinclair of the White Panther Party. He grabbed a microphone and yelled, “Are we going to sit here listening to this sh*t while John Sinclair rots in prison. . .” The Who’s guitarist, Pete Townshend, was adjusting his amp between songs and turned to look at Hoffman over his right shoulder. Pete ran with his Gibson S.G. and rammed it into Hoffman’s upper middle back. Hoffman turned with mouth gaping, back arched with one hand trying to reach the injury as Pete, disgruntled, put a hand in Hoffman’s face and shoved him backwards to stage right. Pete then said “next one tries that gets f***ing killed”. The rest of the band looked at one another not sure what was going to happen next. Pete, frustrated by the interruption, windmilled into the next song. The band regained composure and followed. After that song, Pete walked over to Hoffman, who was sitting on the right hand side of stage with his arms around his knees. Pete leaned over and said something to him then gave him a smack up behind the head.
That sums up leftist bullies in a nutshell. All you have do is hit back hard and they fold up like a cheap suitcase.
Wasn’t it also the Who who refused to take the stage until they got paid?

I was a grown man, married with children, recently discharged from the US Navy when those maggot infested hippies went nuts and blew their minds with dope and pot. Dancing around like the faggots they were and like the cowards they were.

Woodstock? LOL, I was a twinkle in my parents eyes at the time, Though they weren’t pot smoking liberals in any way, as they were strong conservative students at the time.

The Who weren’t the only band that demanded to be paid first. The Grateful Dead did that at shows as well (although I think they did play a second free show that day and they played a park concert in Canada while they were on the Festival Express tour train.
And the Who didn’t buy the hippie vibe.

PETE TOWNSEND: The people at Woodstock really were a bunch of hypocrites claiming a cosmic revolution simply because they took over a field, broke down some fences, imbibed bad acid, and then tried to run out without paying the bands.
I’m sad there isn’t video of it apparently. At least not on youtube.
one thing they leave out,is these were all white ,middle class-rich kids, 20s working class types like me were scuffling odd jobs,plus I never did drugs
I hung round some of them ,but they were spoiled and phony ,many were draft dodgers, they were just hippys to escape the military
