No one has ever come close to this man. He was the last of the greats who transformed the way that America, and the world, received their daily news. He was in favor of giving the American people what they needed to know, not what they wanted to hear.

Along with Cronkite, tonight I’ll raise a toast to:

John Chancellor
Chet Huntley
David Brinkley
Edward R. Murrow

I hope that the posers who currently hold the anchor chairs at all the networks reflect on just how pathetically they measure up to these giants.

And for the venom-spitters here: Shame on all of you. Shame.

The anniversary of Tony Snow’s death was July 12. Now there was a real journalist.

I didn't know that; so a year has passed already. I agree with you from my head to my toes, Tony was a genuine journalist, an elegant man, a solid spokesman and a very, very American loving patriot. I miss him.

Walter Cronkite pioneered and mastered the role of television news propagandist.

He gave a false sense of trust, reassurance and accuracy that fooled millions for so long in a day where there was no alternative news sources.

Statists and the unsuspecting will miss him greatly.

Cronkite was a proclaimed atheist...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I guarantee he isn't an atheist now!

Too late, Wally.......in all your professed esteem and wisdom, you kinda forgot about the End Game.

No, shame on you for your immense lack of understanding.

I’ve been somewhat scrolling this (350-plus posts) thread, and am heartened to see that most share my disdain for this phony. May he NOT rest in peace; he buttered his bread, and may he now eternally sleep in it.

RIP, you old liberal. Now how many days are we going to have to listen to all the liberals praising him as the greatest newsman in the history of world? After listening to the praising of MJ for days on end I cannot take anymore. I will turn off the TV and listen to CD’s. Besides Cronkite lied while soldiers died.

I’m going down to my American Legion post and toast this “man” for all he did.
I was raised not to speak ill of the dead.
So I will leave it at that.
But I can think it!!!!

An American institution. RIP.

There was nothing "American" about what he did during the Vietnam War. Nothing.

I wish his family peace.
