OK, folks...trivia question: Is anyone here old enough to remember who preceded him as anchor of the CBS Evening News?

Didn't care for his media bias but RIP and prayers to his family.

Anything to to hide the real news, Cap and Trade, Obamacare...

Hopefully congress won't be able to sneak zero-care in the midst of what's sure to be heavy coverage for the next 4-5 days.

I always thought Frank Reynolds was great. Never got my brambles up like Walter did.

Correct. He made the Tet Offensive out to be a defeat for us, but our guys actually broke the back of the VC in that little number. They got their butts kicked.

I believe it was Douglas Edwards.

I’m old enough to remember but that may be the problem - too damn’d old to remember.

I always thought Frank Reynolds was great.

Frank was amazing during the live coverage of the Reagan assassination attempt.

This isn't 'just a dead person', this is a person who, personally, willingly and knowingly participated in causing the deaths of many people. Perhaps even millions of people.

No one knows where the course of history would have taken us. There was plenty of time while he was alive to trash his politics. It is classier if we gave it a rest for a few days and just give condolences to his family.

I liked his coverage of the space program. He was an avid sailor.

These are the good things I can think of.

Huntley and Brinkley were on NBC, IIRC.

His ‘zanny (sic) liberalism’ existed long before Bush’s election.

What can I say?

The man who astonished the Vietcong by announcing that it was the USofA who lost the Tet offensive is dead.

Stay Warm, Walter.

You’re absolutely right.

And if you listen to some of his speeches, he was a dyed-in-the-wool communist.

No tears here. But I think I’ll have a beer.

I wish more people would take that advice. If you have nothing positive to say about a dead person, don't. Just wish their family well.

Yup. I don't even know why I opened the thread. It's sad to see the low grade type of posts that are thrown up on this board. And, it's getting worse. I see out of the first fifty 5 or 6 are mod deleted. I read at least ten more that should also be. imo
