Another Liberal from Massachusetts Attacks Palin and Proves He Doesn’t Know What He’s Talking About

Friday, July 17, 2009 Another Liberal from Massachusetts Attacks Palin and Proves That He Doesn’t Know What He’s Talking About By R. A. Mansour

Another liberal from Massachusetts is attacking Palin's Cap and Trade op-ed. This time it’s Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) in an article in The Daily Beast.

Check this out for some laughs:

“Hailing from Alaska, one would assume the Governor might have noticed the water around her is indeed rising,” Markey says.

“No matter how hard she looks, Gov. Palin is not going to find enough oil in Alaska to feed our country’s insatiable appetite for energy,” he adds.

“Our plan can only be compared with Palin’s proposals by omission, not commission. Here are the words she chose to omit from her op-ed: wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, efficiency, smart grid, and fuel economy. These are true America solutions to our energy problems. Solutions that will create over 1.7 million new clean energy jobs alone, solutions that will save consumers and businesses millions on electricity bills year after year.”

Apparently, Markey hasn’t heard anything about Gov. Palin’s renewable energy plan:

Gov. Sarah Palin has crossed swords with conservation groups over petroleum drilling, but she earned nothing but praise Friday after announcing the most ambitious renewable energy goals in the nation. At a news conference announcing her statewide energy plan, Palin called for 50 percent of Alaska's power to be generated by renewable resources by 2025.

[...]

About 24 percent of Alaska's power already comes from renewable energy, mostly hydropower from the Alaska Panhandle. Reaching Palin's goal will take major projects to serve Alaska cities that are beyond the reach of single utilities, said Pat Lavin, an attorney for the National Wildlife Federation.

He called Palin's announcement "a defining moment in Alaska's history."

"We just became a leader among states in committing to renewable energy as the power source of the future," he said.

She has consistently spoken of the need for an “all of the above” approach to energy independence, which includes renewable and non-renewable. Yeah, it even includes things like “wind, solar, biomass, geothermal,” etc.

And as for his implied accusation that Gov. Palin hasn't noticed climate change issues in Alaska, perhaps Markey hasn't noticed that Gov. Palin is the first Alaska governor to create a sub-committee to study the issue of climate change.

She mentioned this in a July 2008 interview with Investor’s Business Daily:

Here in Alaska we love our clean air and our clean water and our abundant wildlife. We will protect Alaska. I'm a Republican, and when I got elected, some accused me of being anti-development. I created a new office to just concentrate on oversight of resource development on the North Slope.

We're putting our money where our mouth is. We're budgeting for strict oversight so we can prove to the rest of the U.S. that we will have safe, clean developments and will do this responsibly (and) ethically.

And as for not finding enough "oil in Alaska to feed our country’s insatiable appetite for energy," perhaps Markey hasn't heard of natural gas. It's kind of a big deal. It's clean and environmentally friendly and has the ability to revolutionize our energy market and provide us with energy independence. There's a lot of it in Alaska and a lot of it in the Lower 48. In fact, Sarah Palin got a natural gas pipeline underway. It's set to be finished in 2018, and it's a big darn deal. I'm really surprised no one told Markey about it.

And, by the way, if America has an "insatiable appetite for energy" then by definition nothing will satisfy it -- not even renewable energy. (And they call Sarah Palin stupid...)

Bottom line: Another Massachusetts liberal doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Since Markey is one of the idiots who wrote this bill I guess he is worried that if more people read Sarah’s op-ed piece, people will actually REALIZE how HORRENDOUS cap and tax will be for America. Boy Sarah has these libs scared to death doesn’t she. If only the GOP would stand alongside her and attack these bastards left and right, we would be in a much better position. Sarah has hit a nerve with these leftists. They must be nervous now that their cap and tax bill might not pass

“Hailing from Alaska, one would assume the Governor might have noticed the water around her is indeed rising,” Markey says.

I wonder if this loon really believes this. Does he have any proof of this? I imagine Governor Palin chalks up any rising water she sees to the Commie 'RATS peeing on everyones legs.

That's pretty much a given. In fact there probably hasn't been a Mass. pol that knows what he's talking about since about the 19th century. Certainly not since the Kennedy's and Kerry's came to town.

If she looked out her windows, she would view sea levels that have actually dropped, considerably depending on the Alaskan location.

Here are 2 posts we did on Alaska sea levels:

Unfortunately, it has become painfully obvious that neither Markey nor Waxman have a clue what they are talking about when concerning global warming and climate change.

The news would be if Markey DID know what he is talking about. He rarely does.

Wind and solar power produces less than 2 percent of the energy in this country. Oil & gas produces about 53 percent, if I remember correctly.

What is going to replace the 53 percent immediately when this farce is put in place, Markey?!

And YES, drilling in Alaska and coastal plus more nuclear plants could produce enough energy for as long as the eye can see! I will take ‘dirty’ energy before I will accept NO ENGERY which is exactly what Markey has planned for the rest of us!

It’s pretty laughable that these perrier drinking leftist think they know more about energy and oil than a woman who has spent her much of her career dealing with these issues. I geuss these leftist think if they read an algore book they suddenly become an expert on energy. For the record, I believe that Sarah Palin said she has noticed some global warming during the campaign last year.

What will it do?

Foreign carbon dependency. Yep
It just sucks more of our money out of our country.
