BUTLER, Mo. Buy a truck and get a free AK-47 gun.
That's the deal a Missouri truck dealer is offering new customers who buy a pick-up truck in August.
Mark Muller, owner of Max Motors in Butler, says he knows people will be bothered by the promotion.
But not to worry, Muller is not handing out free guns. Instead, he will give buyers a voucher to use at a gun store after they obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon.
The AK-47 is an upgrade on a previous promotion in which Muller gave away vouchers for the price of a Caltec pistol.
The retail value of an AK-47 is $450 dollars but Muller says customers can spend their voucher on the gun of their choice.

And to think I could have picked one up for $359 last month and didn't do it.

I think the idiot journalist meant a Kel tec Pistol: http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/ they make an inexpensive but nice little automatic, and a bunch of other pretty cool hardware. Journalist said Caltech. but hey, expecting a journalist to accurately report on weapons... Not very likely. They can’t keep straight automatic pistol, semi auto rifle, auto rifle, revolver, evil assault weapons etc.
Everyone should like this. Conservative get a gun for protection and a good story about how they got it. Liberals get a gun that they can then turn into the police and tell all their liberal friends about it.
Don't know. Here's the dealer's web site: http://www.max71.com/.

I remember when he gave away a handgun on a previous sales offer. He sure does look like Mancow’s brother!!
He says that he gives the voucher to the buyer and he can go to a gun dealer (or one that the business recommends) and go through the regular background check process.
I’m sure the liberal press loves to sqawk how he’s arming crooks!! I like it when he said, “You know, felons buy cars too...” and then explained about the voucher/background check w/local gun dealers.
Pretty neat.
I just bought an SKS a few months back, first long gun, etc.
I was pleasantly surprised by how little paperwork there was, took all of 5 minutes to complete it.
Just bought a 9mm two weeks ago - PAPERWORK!!!!!!!
Gotta get one of those Caltec pistols. (Kel-tec)
it is probobly not an ak, but an sks...still, 7.62 x 39 is a hell of a round...

My regular carry gun is a KelTec P32. I’m a small woman, and I’ve actually gone jogging with this little lightweight .32 caliber in the pocket of my running shorts. Not huge firepower, but the only gun that’s going to help you is one you actually have with you when the need arises, and a little bitty gun is a lot easier to carry around anywhere and everywhere. It’s got a mile-long trigger pull that takes some serious getting used to, but it’s sure as heck not going to go off by accident.
“he will give buyers a voucher to use at a gun store after they obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon.”
Where might one *conceal* an AK?
Isn't an AK-47 a tad large to carry concealed ??
Anyone going to Missouri next month?
Heck, I keep a P32 in my computer bag. Good little gun.
The Walther P99 40SW stays in the car thought...
Great minds think alike :-)
Eh, I'm not impressed with Kel-Tec myself. My wife used one for her carry pistol at our CCW class, and she had the devil's own time sliding it. I even had difficulty with it. It may not have been well-maintained (was borrowed for her to use as she didn't have a pistol at the time), but it just left a bad impression on us. We now have matching his and hers Berettas.
