Susan Estrich: Obama QAHCAA Health Care Plan 'Almost Laughable'
NewsBusters ^ | July 17, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

Posted on 07/17/2009 6:10:24 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

It is one thing for conservatives to criticize President Obama's QAHCAA (Quality, Affordable Health Coverage for All Americans) health care plan but now even a number of liberals are attacking it as unworkable. We recently saw skepticism emanating from Morning Joe's Mika Brzezinski and now fellow liberal, Susan Estrich, is expressing deep doubt that any such plan is economically feasable. Estrich kicks off her column with a sarcastic look at the "success" of Obama's stimulus plan:

The stimulus program must really be succeeding in Washington, D.C. Government is hiring; people are working. In fact, if news reports are to be believed, they're working night and day. So maybe there's some sleep deprivation thrown in for good measure. And don't forget the legendary heat and humidity that made service in the nation's Capitol hazardous before the advent of air conditioning.

What other explanation could there be for my friends in Congress and the administration thinking that what the country wants them to do right now is raise taxes and spend a trillion dollars to overhaul health care, much less to push it through in a month in a 1,000-page bill being rewritten every day?

It flies in the face of basic common sense, how could you save money by adding people to be covered?

In the novel "Catch-22" the character Milo Minderbender buys eggs at 5 cents a piece and makes a fortune selling them at 3 cents a piece. He explains that it's the high volume that makes this work.

Estrich may not be eye candy, to put it mildly.

But she, Camille Paglia and Clarence Page are the only liberal journalists (pardon the redundancy) who actually can consistently make reasoned, coherent and logical arguments for their worldview.

“Susan is a BIG Hillary fan, so this is expected. We are going to see more of a split between the Hillary machine and the Obama wing in the future.”

And this is not a bad thing. Not that I want the GOP to go to the middle, I just want some of the dems to look for and find a clear alternative to marxism and find it.

Did you see Hillary’s comments yesterday? She looked down-rite pissed about being shoved in the corner. Although she made nice, it was obvious that there is trouble in paradise....

The points that choices would be taken away and there would be a “tax” to punish anyone not signing up sure sounds like Hillarycare!

They need to add an L at the end of the acronym (standing for “Losers” since the politicians who wrote the bill won’t be forced to take the coverage themselves). Then it can be called “Cackle.” Too bad Margaret Hamilton is no longer alive.

I bet some of the libs that are against this bill, see they will finally be paying big time for their marxists ideas and it’s going to affect their bank account.

I'm suspecting the same thing.

It's one of those things underneath the surface of the water.

Most people just watch the top of the water, but what's underneath the top is more significant.
