Obama's Head Full of Academic Yada Yada (a symbol of everything wrong in higher education today)

Obama is a symbol of everything wrong in higher education today:He has graduated Columbia and Harvard Law School with a head full of a fluff, no substance. He throws around words that are in vogue among the academicians, but it is clear that he (and probably they) have no notion of what they mean. Even Democrat Mickey Kaus catches on today that Obama doesn't know what he's talking about when he's talking about his own health plan ( SEE HERE : http://slate.com/blogs/blogs/kausfiles/archive/2009/07/15/obama-as-health-care-salesman-he-sucks.aspx )

Professor Ann Althouse made a similar observation yesterday re Sotomayor and Obama's use of "empathy" ( SEE HERE : http://althouse.blogspot.com/2009/07/did-you-notice-how-sonia-sotomayor-has.html)

I recall that in the soft courses to get an "A" you really had to come up with an outre take on stuff that had been studied from the beginning of time. Smart kids knew that was because professors liked to be able to read something new in stacks of blue books to keep from falling asleep -- they did not take this nonsense seriously. Apparently, Obama does.

I’ve been reading the fascinating Walter Isaacson biography “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life” and came across this on page 153. It helps to explain the “wussification” of so many of the men in this country, to wit:

“He (Franklin) told the story of some Massachusetts commissioners who invited the Indians to send a dozen of their youth to study free at Harvard. The Indians replied that they had sent some of their young braves to study there years earlier, but on their return ‘...they were absolutely good for nothing, being neither acquainted with the true methods for killing deer, catching beaver, or surprising an enemy.’ They offered instead to educate a dozen or so white children in the ways of the Indians ‘...and make men of them’.”

Some thoughts on that paragraph:
* Didn’t Obama – and a lot of today’s lawyers — go to Harvard?
* Didn’t klintoon also attend Harvard? However, he apparently DID master the art of “catching beaver.”
* Too bad the commissioners didn’t take the Indians up on their counter-offer. Perhaps we’d have more MEN — like the two military men who HAVE challenged the Usurper-in-Chief — here today if they had.

I think the title should have Ivy League or East Coast education because there are universities in Middle America turning out good students.

In all the thousands of words I have read about the "Obama Health Care Plan for the Nation" I have not detected a mention about what will happen to lawsuits. Who will the lawyers sue? If you are in the "public (government) system" will the lawyers be allowed to sue the government? Fat chance. Will the lawyers be able to sue individuals when they don't meet Obama's strict self-discipline requirements for exercising, smoking cessation and weight loss? Good luck extorting millions from private individuals. When the private insurance companies are gone, who will be the deep pockets who provide excessive settlements to the Democrats biggest contributors, after unions, the trial lawyers?!?!?

Enquiring minds want to know.

My bad — but the other institutions are just as bad as Harvard.

Hell, they’ve ALL been captured by the socialists.

Obomba is an ‘educated’ communist imbecile.

I feel certain that important areas of learning like mathematics have never rattled around in his empty skull.

The African fool knows nothing about economics and business and looks upon these pillars of education as useless to a community organizer-agitator and not necessary for use in his task as a destroyer.

Everyone around him is either a true communist or a progressive which amounts to the same thing.

The nation has become extremely dangerous to those of us who have saved money, generated wealth and hate communism.

I listened to a biography of Daniel Boone, and the point made was that the white settlers adopted the ways of the native Americans to survive and prosper.

What you learn depends on the environment in which you live. The problem becomes when you have optimized for one environment and another environment is thrown at you.

It takes a long time to “retool” most individuals. If you did not grow up in house in which your father repaired things, then you are at a considerable disadvantage when you become a homeowner. The same applies to car repair, cooking, etc.

This is like the old joke in which one lawyer starves in a small town, but two lawyers prosper. As urbanization develops and society becomes more complex, those who can manipulate the system the best are the most rewarded. Lawyers are the ultimate manipulators of the system. Financial types are another group with that advantage.

Bush Jr also had better grades than Algore at Harvard. Algore got a ‘D’ in general science.

Agree with the article but let's get it straight, GWB was Yale undergraduate.

Edward Gibbon left Oxford after a year and a half realizing all the deans and dons were inflated bufoons, then went on to write The Decline and Fall -.

Bill Gates left Harvard as an undergrad realizing there was a creative world out there to be explored.

I think Steve Jobs a similar vein.

Lars Onsager, RT Jones, and on and on. College can be enlightening, but it is leftist bandwagon thinking that considers it necessarily so. One can read, no?

Here's one Barry and everyone else might want to study up on over the
next several months: Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Along with Malthusianism.

Clinton went to Georgetown Foreign Service under a special program for Congressional interns (He worked for Fulbright of AK). He then went to Oxford, where he was more or less dismissed in an un-prosecuted date-rape scandal, then wandered around the USSR and Eastern Bloq (love to see his KGB File) for a year or so, then went to Yale Law.

GW is a Yale man. Afterwards, he went to Harvard Business School for his MBA. Of the three, he has by far the best academic résumé.

Al did go to Harvard, as did the other Al, Franken. Gore was a washout in Divinity School, and Law School.

My late friend and patriot, F. Tupper Saussy – who came from a long line of lawyers and somehow resisted the family “business” and became a musician, author and patriot – traced the word “attorney” back to the ancient Sanscrit word “torwa.”

Translation? TO TWIST!

My spouse is reading “Rules for Radicals.” There is something on almost every page that delays sleep at night.

Hussein is implementing Alinksy. Hussein is dangerous, amoral, anti-Constitutional in beliefs, a tyrant in waiting but he is no imbecile. He knows exactly what he is doing to get where he wants.
