Huckabee warns Palin: Don't leave GOP
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2009-07-15

(CNN) — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a warning for Sarah Palin: Don't abandon the Republican Party.

The former presidential candidate and potential future White House rival of Palin's said Tuesday he's concerned about speculation the Alaska governor may leave the GOP to become an independent.

I hope she remains — let me be real clear — a part of the Republican Party," Huckabee told FOX News. "I'm a little concerned when I hear her say that she may sort of branch out and go third party or go independent. That would be a big mistake because we need to rebuild the Republican Party, not abandon it.""

You mean You Rino's need her to maintain the old boys club.

She, however, doesn't need a red liberal like you, Huckleberry. She's not out to rebuild the same old same old. She's going to start new, and shut you liberals out.

Sure it's a smear, and probably smart politics. Huckabee realizes his real foe isn't Romney as much as it is Palin. He probably can beat Romney one on one. If Palin is in the mix, Huckabee’s chances diminish and Romney’s improve.

I would prefer to see Mitt Romney walk off into third party oblivion.

For the most part, third party voters are principle voters, right or wrong. No chance of Mitt fitting in there.

We didn’t abandon the Republican Party, The Republican Party abandoned us.

LOL...

So, if it’s a Palin/Huckabee ticket, you’re gonna be just “writing in” Palin, huh? :-)

When you are faced with a slow-growth marketplace, it ALWAYS better to acquire a top-tier player and swap out management and technology. Starting from scratch only works if everyone starts from scratch. Organizational costs are huge!

The GOP is ripe for an internal takeover. Let Sarah use the Tea Party movement to establish the platform and voice, then move into position. Drag along any blue dog Democrats, if you can, since their votes deny the DNC a majority.

Hey, Carl Icahn could revamp the GOP in six months or less.

With one public statement, Sarah Palin has given voice to conservative frustrations and shaken the RINO establishment to its foundation.

It will be fascinating to watch this play out.

I'll be voting and paying my dues in "The New Republican Party".

You can go down with the old, rotting ship of the old if you like.

It's not really going "third party". It'll be more like a membership raid of a New GOP against the Old GOP. A party split- Rino's to the left, Conservatives to the right.

Huckabee........Mr. Rogers.

Could we please have a couple masculine men step forward, anywhere in America? Are they just not allowed anymore? I guess that’s it.

There are 49 "third parties" currently, I would describe most of their members as something different than "principled" but I know what you meant.

On the other hand Romney has a big pool of Mormons that if they weren't ordered not to vote vote for him, may give him 48,00 votes which would beat Alan Keyes's 2008 effort.

Never have been exactly why Huckabee gives me the creeps. I disagree with a lot of politicians, but the distaste I have for him is unique.

It’s odd...

"Or else what? We might have a big government takeover of the US? Newsflash...(do I really need to say it?)"

Has MY vote for pithiest post of the day...

I guess even some Conservatives are guilty of not being able to focus on the fact that the left ALREADY owns all the marbles.

If Sarah Palin can pull enough people away from both parties (and I know there are democrat voters out there who are ashamed of the current resident) who will like what they hear Sarah say, and she gets enough support from the electorate, even ACORN won't be able to steal the election, and the GOP will be put out of its misery once and for all. If there is one thing that is hard to watch, it's a suffering elephant. The GOP will have to return to its Conservative roots soon, or it is going to be rendered permanently and officially USELESS for the purposes it claims to provide.

Going third party is equivalent to opting out of the political system and deciding to have no voice.

Work to make the republican party better, don’t abandon it.

I can't begin to tell you how much I disagree with your comments. IF Gov. Palin should decide to go 3rd party, I believe she will take far more people with her than Ross Perot ever dreamed of. It isn't the party, it's the people the party represents and the people who represent the party.

In addition, LOTS and LOTS of us have been trying to work with the GOP to make it better. The problem is that the GOP is selectively deaf and doesn't hear us!! How long can you yell at a waterfall before you accept the fact that the waterfall isn't going to answer you???

Yeah, I agree. George Washington was right when he warned us of the two party system in his farewell speech.

She wouldn’t have to even think about that if the current Republican party wasn’t made up of RINOS.

BINGO!

Republicans have to start running conservatives or many of us will follow Sarah out of the Republican party.

"And the democrats sweeping every office in America."

You mean they don't have complete control now? especially with all the rino's making every bill pushed through a landslide?

Gee, I'm so worried.

You are daydreaming if you think the RINO party has any chance in hell of winning anything in 2012.

If you want conservatives to win, then you best get involved now and get this takeover done as soon as possible.

The Rin-ublican party will have no membership and no funds to run anyone in 2012.

All conservatives and libertarians should abandon the GOP, which is the biggest impediment to conservatism in the US today. The GOP is utterly impotent, unable even to stop the racist Sotomayor.

Nope. And I know you think you are very clever. The fact is louses like you have in fact left us with a party that is dem lite. You are the Rockefellers and the Bushes and the Lindsays of the world who tell us we have to compromise when no one else does. You tell us that the if we don’t go your way it will be sooo much worse. Well we did it your way and it is still sooo much worse. NO MORE
