Nope. DEMOCRAT Sen Claire McCaskill wrote a bill to allow so-called-republican McCain to be called a natural born citizen, despite his clearly documented foreign birth.

The basis of this extra-constitutional recognition was that his father was active duty US military, stationed abroad at the time of his birth.

OBAMA tried to insert language that would allow ANY DESCENDANT of anyone who served in the US military be regarded as ‘natural born’, regardless of circumstances of birth. (It’s only a coincidence that this would cover him through his maternal grandfather)

Mercifully, the bill never passed as a law. It only became a “sense of the senate”, as if the senate had a lick of sense.

My opinion? The democrats wanted a non-NBC republican in office as their Plan B. If the democrat candidate failed to win, they could eviscerate the McCain presidency on constitutional grounds.

After all, calling a foreign born person a Natural Born Citizen does not make them an NBC, any more than calling a tail a leg gives a dog five legs.

McCain is too a naturalized citizen.

Try that again?

You said:

McCain is too a naturalized citizen.

Natural BORN citizens do not need to be NATURALIZED, do they?

Well, up for interpretation for sure, because Obama might not have given the order, might have been some lackey, BUT that being said, ALL of the decision makers derive their authority from the CIC. So I think you might be right.

Horse puckey. America is worth fighting for and if that means fighting to get an usurper OUT of MY house, then so be it.

Oops, sorry. It’s late. I meant “natural born”, not “naturalized”.

I know the difference. My kids are all naturalized citizens, and I broke their hearts when they were little when I told them they could never run for president.

Oh, and just for the record, he wasn't born on The Base. He was born in the independent country of Panama, in Colón PANAMA.

Colón is not now, nor has it ever been, part of the Canal Zone, nor any other entity that could even be vaguely considered US soil.

Besides, being born on The Base or in a US embassy conveys no citizenship.

Thank God I've never made a mistake like that...

*looking fearfully upward for a lightning bolt*

I know the difference. My kids are all naturalized citizens, and I broke their hearts when they were little when I told them they could never run for president.

I can relate. I'm a Marine Brat. I deeply resented that half of my classmates could never be President. I thought it was wrong then, I think it's wrong now.

Perhaps if the turn of phrase "Natural Born Citizen" ever gets an actual legal definition they still could be.

"The only LEGAL CANDIDATE was McCain."

McCain was and IS just as ineligible as Obama. To change his status as the Senate did with a proclamation doesn't change the requirement of the Constitution. To trump something in the Constitution takes an "amendment", not some crappy Senate proclamation.

I’d vote for a Marine Brat any day- assuming he was conservative.

John McCain's father was an American citizen at the time of his birth. John McCain's mother was an American citizen at the time of his birth.

Under the laws of the United States, any child born to two American citizens, regardless of where they are in world, is an American citizen from the moment of birth.

John McCain had his citizenship from the moment of birth and is a natural born American eligible to be President.

The location of his birth and any other citizenship he might be eligible to claim under the laws of Panama are not legally relevant to his status as a natural born American.

Danae, I know Ed has given them a bad name. He IS pretty kooky..but nobody really pays any attention to him. I don’t.
I listen for the important guests that his OTHER hosts have on their shows. They have people like state representatives, Orly Taitz, Leo Denofrio, Steve Pidgeon, Alan Keyes, Pamela Guiller from Atlas Shrugs and Bridgett Gabriel- to name a few.

McCain was naturalized at birth, but he is not a natural-born citizen.
