Thank God I've never made a mistake like that...
*looking fearfully upward for a lightning bolt*
I know the difference. My kids are all naturalized citizens, and I broke their hearts when they were little when I told them they could never run for president.
I can relate. I'm a Marine Brat. I deeply resented that half of my classmates could never be President. I thought it was wrong then, I think it's wrong now.
Perhaps if the turn of phrase "Natural Born Citizen" ever gets an actual legal definition they still could be.
I’d vote for a Marine Brat any day- assuming he was conservative.
My brother was born in England to two US citizen parents, he is a natural born American and can be President.
My brother-in-law was born on Okinawa to two US citizen parents, he is natural born and can be President.
Any kid in your class who was born an American citizen is natural born and eligible to be President.
Barry Goldwater was born in the Territory of Arizona, an incorporated US Territory, he was also born to two US citizen parents. Each of those conditions separately made him a natural born citizen and eligible to be President.
The only American citizens who cannot be President are those who were not born American citizens but who acquired citizenship by being naturalized.
