Republicans Turn Hostile to Palin
American Spectator ^ | July 14, 2009 | Doug Bandow

Posted on 07/14/2009 5:57:24 PM PDT by RobinMasters

The latest poll ratings suggest that many Republicans have turned negative towards Gov. Sarah Palin after her surprise resignation announcement. Reports CNN:

A majority of Americans think Sarah Palin is stepping down as Alaska's governor for political reasons, according to a new national poll, with a majority of Republicans now saying that they do not believe that Palin would be an effective president.

Only 33 percent of Republicans questioned in a CBS News survey released Monday night say that Palin would have the ability to serve effectively as president. Last fall, 71 percent of registered Republicans felt that way.

That’s a great cartoon. But the GOP lost it’s balls long ago.

I gave you your link. Let’s see your proof that the Gannett USA Today’s poll numbers are wrong. We all know that CBS and CNN have lied in the past.

None of this matters now. What matters, is what Palin does next. Her Op-ed in the Washington Post attacking 'cap and tax' is a good start. Palin could launch a grassroots movement to push opening America's energy supplies that would make the 'drill, baby drill! movement look like Sesame Street.

This movement could put so much pressure on Congress that their heads will spin.

What are all of her competitors doing? Romney? Still on his listening tour?

I just got to ask, what republicans are these folks talking
to? Mitt or Huck?

Why does the spectator cover this? They like NRO are all over the place. It is best to let it play out instead of picking sides. Like FOX asking Huck what he feels, What is he going to say?

I never said they were wrong; I don’t know which poll to believe.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons conservatives could believe Palin wouldn’t be an effective President.

Who said she's running for President?

She even got you confused.

I’ve been criticizing Sarah for supporting RINO Senator McCain’s re-election to the U.S. Senate in ‘10

Stop spreading lies.

Palin has yet to make an official statement whether or not she will endorse McCain.

I never did, and I acknowledged that in my first post on this thread. But I’m pointing out that if a pollster calls you and asks you the question and you say no, it doesn’t make you a RINO.

You guys are delusional the way you assume everyone who doesn’t agree with you is “confused” or “just doesn’t get it.” It’s the most arrogant, narrow-minded response possible, and it seems to appear on every thread involving Palin.

I never said they were wrong; I don’t know which poll to believe.

The big majority of the $1 million she's taken in the first few months of this year for her PAC and legal defense fund is from donors less than $200.

That's one poll to believe in. :)

Sarah is not gonna get involved with the Senate race in Arizona, she knows it’s a no win situation.

Yes, but the GOP can't win national elections by being the rural, Scots-Irish Evangelical Protestant Party.

The best thing about Minnie Pearl Palin is that she isn't a Kenyan Marxist. Alot can happen in three years, so it is too soon to say that she will go down like a 20 dollar meth head or will be Ronald Reagan in a dress. She lack Margaret Thatcher's intellect and Reagan's ability to talk beyond the media.

I hope you realize that in alot of the country (such as the northeast and upper midwest) the blue collar yokels don't care for Sarah either.

If Sarah really does decide to “go third party” in any kind of possible future run for any political office, then she’s really taking a profound political risk for herself. So far, for a very long time, almost all “third party/Independent runs” for any major political office have ended with major political party candidates winning and third political party candidates barely visible percentage wise. Sarah may be able to actually change this ongoing political trend, but, so far, it hasn’t worked out well for almost all third political party/Independent candidates in almost all major runs for “major” political office, other than the role of “political spoiler”, whenever the final voting results are close for the two major political party candidates.

She needs to let people know why the corporate media and Rinos are targeting her. She is not part of the globalist good ole boy and girl network. She is an American-American - out for the interests of Americans. She is not a “citizen of the globe.”

HUCKABEE: Well, she may be the person I get behind. You know, it may be a lot more fun to support somebody than it is to go out and be that person. It is a grueling, incredibly demanding schedule to run for president, and the risks are high. I love what I’m doing. I have no idea, my future, and you know, I’m not about to do anything other than right now, I hope Sarah Palin does extremely well because I think she’s an important voice for our party.

I want her to succeed, and I’m delighted to see her continuing to use her voice because I do think that she rallies people. She brought electricity to the Republican ticket last year, when, frankly, there was about as much excitement as you would see, you know, at a — at a Baptist dance, which means there wasn’t any, until she showed up for the ticket. And then there was fire going forth.
