Bohunk American BumP
You might have a conversation with the haters who tell posters not to join the NRA.
I happen to be a native American (meaning both my parents and I were born as natural Americans).
A couple of examples from 90 years ago...
There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americans... The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of it continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.
Theodore Roosevelt October 12, 1915
"A hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts 'Native' before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance."
-- Theodore Roosevelt
...and a contemporary one:
If anybody calls me anything but an American-American I am going to slug him.
George Foreman
Well said sir!
In a free society, liberty is the engine of justice. Justice that is not born of freedom is, in reality, slavery to the capricious laws of men.
JR channeling TR!
Thanks for posting this Jim. A few of the troops have looked a bit down in the mouth of late and this is just what the doctor ordered.
I’ve been using the simple title “American” in my tag line for some time now.
Good rant, Jim.
Thank you for your service. Natural born American as well.
