A modest proposal about alcohol and guns
Examiner ^ | July 14, 2009 | John Pierce

"Alcohol encourages dangerous behavior" admits restaurant owner. And knowing how these owners feel about their duty to their communities, I have no doubt that they will be glad to support legislation banning alcohol sales in restaurants. After all, this is not the “Wild West”. We do not need saloons on every corner.

Sarcasm and humor can sometimes be powerful weapons. Let's hope that the anti-gun forces do not manage to neuter this piece of common sense legislation.

One percent of people who drink give the other 99 percent a bad name.

PA allows drinking while carrying, and there are NO shootouts bc of it.

It’s a red herring (as usual) and a scare tactic.

Nothing more.

Don’t give MADD any ideas, they are already pushing for alcohol sensors for all cars.(Japanese manufacturers are ahead on the technology)

MADD is also working to get BAL down to .05 from .08 in this country.

In my experience, things that sound far-fetched and ludicrous usually become law.

As they say, “Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be the name of a convenience store, not a government agency.”

NY allows it as well, with no problems.
If it were a problem to any degree, NY would have long forbidden it.

We do not need saloons on every corner.

Why not?? Aren't saloons protected under the Constitution?? How many barroom brawls do you think there would be if EVERYBODY was pascking?? Give'em all a piece and let peace reign.

You are correct.

A legislator in MA has proposed a zerotolerance law.

Either a designated driver or a cab, but no driver would be allowed to drink at all. Each group entering a restaurant would specify one person. Persons entering alone would not be allowed a beer.

Every car with a breathalyser ignition.

Methinks its a matter of time only.
