Sotomayor reasserts 2nd Amendment does not apply to the states
Fox News Channel | 7/14/09

Mentioned "hunting" and "target practice" as legitimate uses for a gun, as long as the state decides you can have one. Not one word on self-defense.

No, the issue just hasn't been addressed by the highest court. It will be soon, because there's a circuit split.

My point is that the circuit court ignored 150 years of law - didn't even discuss it. That's either abysmal ignorance or deliberate malice, my vote's for the latter.

You know what is bad? I was agreeing more with Lindsey Graham last night than the other pubbies I saw talking about her..
When he begins to sound reasonable its getting bad.

California doesn’t. That’s why the CA AG has filed an amicus brief.

I expect the NRA to send out the email alerts today but gunowners better wake up. The four million NRA members can’t do it alone when there are 75 million gunowners sitting on the sidelines and there are Forty million antigun AARP members writing to confirm.

This is the only context that is important: ‘Congress shall make no law...’, but if it is explicitly outlined in the constitution, the states must oblige.

Ok... Let's play semantics here. Technically, the Second Amendment doesn't apply to States. Or government at all. It states a Right of all of us as Individuals, one that Shall not be Infringed. Period.

This Right pre-existed the Constitution and no laws made under it may violate it. Via Art6 Para 2, the prohibition part of Amd 2 applies to all governing bodies operating as part of the US.

All of the legal mumbo-jumbo since then has all been attempts at limiting this Right, confining it, and trying to keep us from having access to it. All in contravention of the "Founding intent" and the explicit language.

Sotomayor is an epic failure at understanding this. This alone should be grounds to impeach her as a judge, much less seating her on the SCOTUS. Applying this via rulings is a clear violation of Title 18, Sect 242.

Heh, heh. I like it. Course unless it was televised live it would do no good. The MSM would just spike the video and make vague accusations of extremism against whomever asked.

I don’t think that’s true. IIRC, I saw some fairly strongly worded stuff from them about her, and urging her defeat.

She’s trying to use that “judge” voice, but kind of lost it there. They are getting under her skin.

Just what I was going to say - the 14th Amendment binds the states to upholding the bill of rights. ITs funny how when we’re talking about abortion these people don’t want the states to have any say, but when it comes to gun rights they are suddenly in favor of states making their own determinations - and on top of that abortion isn’t in the Constitution and gun rights specifically are. These people are completely intellectually dishonest.

(Buzzer sounds)

I’m sorry, that’s a wrong answer. We have some lovely parting gifts for you backstage, thank you for playing!

‘Instead they will use government controlled health care to do it. Once the Feds get control of our health care they’ll declare that guns in the home are dangerous and causing high health costs.’

Not only guns, my friend.I believe the Feds will use it to get rid of many things they consider dangerous like motorcycles or vehicles with a lot of horsepower. I tell people if we get national healthcare the gubmint will OWN you.

Not if you include politicians in the “hunting”?

Ever wonder how 10-13% of the population is black and another 10-15% is hispanic, but we get all these wonderful programs

See how they divide us and pit us against each other. They put these racial labels on us and dole out aid according to a racist construct that people with darker skin must be lazy and useless thus creating a self fulfilling philosophy. Christ and Christianity does not make these melanin distinctions. Racial distinctions are not made in the New Testament. It's a silly idea. Liberals are the true racists, they honestly believe along with some radical adherence to Darwin that some members of the human species are biologically different and some are dumber, weaker and more helpless and therefore need help by confiscatory taxation. Margeret Sanger(Plnned Parenthood)thought through eugenics there was a solution to the coming issue with African American dissatisfaction. Sad thing is that through tribalism some of these groups start to believe what others say about them, they embrace victimhood. They look at people as color blind..with a big damn asterisk.
