Can anyone answer the sweet lady's innocent little question?
They do know the power of the media, including the Internet as a means to get a story started.
can’t sleep?
Just about to...
This seems to have started with Obama’s pink shirts-Media
Matters.
The problem with badmouthing a website on the MSM is that a bunch of people will actually get curious and look it up. Voila, even more freepers. Who said there was no such thing as bad publicity?
“What’s so bad about a little girl wearing a peace sign?”
I see nothing wrong with it. It’s good that she has political views. It’s no different than when Republican parents teach their political ideology to their children. There was a story here about a girl roughly the same age who wore a prolife t-shirt to school and almost every comment supported her, why is it different with this?
PEACE SYMBOL or a BROKEN UPSIDE-DOWN CROSS: Like many simple symbols, it meant different things at different times. Some call it Nero's cross, linking it to the notorious Roman emperor who persecuted Christians. Centuries later, it was recognized as an old Norse Rune. After WW2 (1939-1945), it was found on the tombstones of some of Hitler's SS troops and labeled 'The Dead Man Rune.' Revived in the sixties by hippies and others who protested nuclear weapons, Western culture, and Christian values, it became a worldwide symbol of a new age of global peace and earth-centered unity. But many heavy metal rock fans would agree with Nero and have used it to mock Christ and His followers.
The above was taken from Symbols and Their Meaning. On a personal level, it stands to me to symbolize the hatred and animosity expressed toward both our military in the 60s and toward our country. It is a symbol expressing hatred of the US rather than pride in the greatest country on earth.
I kind of like that!
In my warped little mind, I associate the peace sign with the 60’s anti-establishment movement to destroy the American way of life.
It symbolizes the core of the Obama’s philosophy which conservatives strongly disagree with.
Other than that, it’s just a scribble.
Not a thing wrong with wearing a peace T-shirt. It just wasn’t the time or the place. The first family was representing the U.S. as the first family. A little class would have been in order.
You can wear the T-shirt at home, about town, out shopping with Moms Omabley, etc.
why is it different with this?

Because she is the daughter of the president ,, obviously mom and/or dad bought or approved of the shirt and allowed it to be worn on a diplomatic mission where the little girl reflects and reinforces the way the president is viewed ...
He is already seen as a blowhard on defense and is actively appeasing the muslim world ... it puts a target on our backs.
The girl can wear anything she wants as long as it isn’t political... if she does then it opens debate.
I did not see the original thread referenced. Independent of that thread, let me say that when the daughter of the President of the United States wears a peace t-shirt while visiting a foreign country, it is a political statement.
Now, if it is her own political statement, I guess that is OK. Kids do have political views, after all. Lots of times you just have to shake your head and hope they grow out of them. However, if her clothes were picked by others, then this eleven-year-old girl is being manipulated in order to make a political statement.
Frankly, if I were President of the United States (not likely), I would try to make sure my children dressed in politically neutral clothing, and issue policy statements through the regular channels. But that’s just me...
Exactly. Imagine the reverse situation: The Bush twins wearing Tshirts that say “bomb Muslims” or something. I’d bet the MSM would be unleashing on DU’s foul discussions of the twins, right? Not.

To attempt explaining most of these things to those who feign understanding would be/is pointless.
Depart from them and shake the dust from yer feet soon thereafter.
Or even something more benign. Suppose it were the Bush twins wearing stars and stripes patterns. You can bet the ankle biters would be revving up the venom.
One hopes the adults would have the last say in this context. Has anybody asked Barack or Michelle why the girl was garbed so?
