The 'Cap And Tax' Dead End (Palin WaPo Op-Ed)
Washington Post ^ | Tuesday, July 14, 2009 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 07/13/2009 8:34:34 PM PDT by redk

There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented.

Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:

I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Like I said upthread, we need to keep donating to Sarahpac, that will get the GOP’s attention and I think Michael Steele sees what some other ego’s do not..

This is just great to see. Please, please Mrs. Palin, continue to bring this kind of rhetoric and passion to the people of the U.S., maybe on a weekly basis. The Dims and Zero will sink deeper and deeper into despair. 2010 and 2012 will be fertile ground for Conservatives. We need it, but mostly, the Country needs it!

Tell them Sarah. This clean energy act is nothing but a job killing economy crippling fiasco. If you think times are tough now wait until you have to come up with $1500 more a year just for utilities!

Cap and trade?

Now you know why Enron had to die.

Either that or they will just ignore this piece and trot Levi out for another round of interviews.

Sarah Palin is a woman that makes few errors, That is driving Obama and his war room up the wall. She just doesn’t make UNFORCED ERRORS, no matter how much they pressure or harass her.

"“We have an important choice to make. Do we want to control our energy supply and its environmental impact? Or, do we want to outsource it to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia? Make no mistake: President Obama’s plan will result in the latter.”

There's an envitonmental angle she should be exloiting:

We can drill. cleanly and responsibly here at home, or we can buy from "dirty drillers" abroad and have our money and jobs shipped overseas to hire those who drill irresponsibly and without regard for the environment.

Sarah Palin is not going to leave the Republican party, that would be foolish.

“Tomorrow’s left-wing blogosphere will respond. How?”

With name calling and smears, the tool of those who have run out of ideas and sensible arguments.

It would be criminally stupid of the republican party to
leave Sarah Palin.

Give her some damn credit

I just don't think the way to win any argument is to start out accepting a false premise put forth by your opponent, that is the whole reason for the discussion in the first place..

Techno, if as politician you deny global warming is man made or happening, there are two significan pitfalls.

It becomes a scientific argument, rather then a political/economic one. She’s a politician

Secondly its very easy to be lablelled as climate change denier.

Thirdly, she shouldn’t dismiss concerns some people have that climate change is occurring, she will lose support as some people have been conned into believing this is occurring on both sides of the fence. She should argue them that there are better alternative strategies (nuclear, world agreements, research in the US, technology advancements), and focus on economic impact of just introducing it (jobs, costs, taxes).

I’ve commented too much on this thread but I’m pretty excited about her article. So they say she is dumb? Well this is bloody brilliant to come out now and focus on this issue. Who else under so much fire would rise above like this and fire at 0bama? Either she is brilliant enough to write this or she is brilliant enough to have someone around her to write it. Take your pick libs. I play the cynical card because the left will assume it is ghost-written.

Wow, not bad for someone as dumb as Reagan. Hey Dims, careful what you wish for.

Pray for America and Gov Palin
