There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented.
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Money collection talks, I just made another donation to Sarah Pac.. trust me THAT gets the attention of the GOP more than anything.
Yes, we can. Just not with Barack Obama’s energy cap-and-tax plan.
“The weakest argument of course is that its not proven at all that global warming is man made.”
Er, meant to add that its not even proven that it is even occurring at the moment.
????? Check the byline: “By Sarah Palin.”
Oh, I think she did pretty well with that during the campaign. But it’s great to see some print work coming from her, and it’s good to see she’s not timid about it. I’d like to see one of these columns from Sarah about once a month or so, as long as they remain thoughtful and well-written, like this one.

I am going to savour every line of her article. What I did read looked great. Let me guess, the media will a, not mention it b, say she didn’t write it c, ah, who cares what they say this made my night!
You make an interesting point. Sarah goes after the second most vulnerable point of cap-in-trade without challenging the premise of it in the first place.
She takes cap-and-trade apart without opening herself to the accusation of not attuned to global warming.
I think that argument will eventually come, but she may not be as prepared as she would like to be to make that argument now.
Curious that she completely avoided the main reason to opposes this abominable legislation; it’s based on a hoax. Not a good sign, in my opinion. You can’t implicitly concede a clear fallacy as fact, and then win an argument on how to approach a non-existent problem by talking about other issues.
This article is now posted on her facebook page. This was scheduled for release tomorrow but the Washington Post posted it tonight. Best article Sarah has written yet, absolutely BRILLIANT. If the GOP throws her under the bus and wants nothing to do with her, then I am done with the GOP, screw them. I will follow Sarah Palin any day, she is EXACTLY what we need. Absolutely NO fear in calling out the libs
Geez she just took Obama to school and your still not satisfied. Give her some damn credit
I have to ask how this got into WaPo? Were the editors drugged or sleeping?
This is exactly what she needed to do. Ole Willie Brown was right about her, her resignation was a brilliant move.
The face of the Conservative Wing of the Republican Party
Tomorrow’s left-wing blogosphere will respond. How? With facts to refute Palin’s? Of course not, silly. With insults—claiming she didn’t write this piece at all. that she is too stupid to understand economics. That it was written by a fellow at Heritage. That why doesn’t she spend more time with the “New Baby Jesus”, as they have been calling Trig. About what a bad mother she is. It’s coming.
As I suggested Sarah may not be ready at present to take on the global warming-environmental wacko lobby. Perhaps she needs to do more research. Rome was not built in a day. Give Sarah some slack. She will get better. This is a great debut.
Great line! Although I doubt liberals would ever admit it if they did finally understand.
I’m guessing the problem has more to do with the messenger than the actual message.
Oh well.
The idiots who constantly underestimate about to find out what the moose in Alaska have known for years.
2012!
Yes exactly.. I have followed political arguments against energy taxing across the world. You are quickly labelled as some sort of loonie “climate change denier” if you raise that argument. Its not the way to argue, nor is it the strategy that other political parties that oppose enegy taxing follow around the world. Its too easily (though incorrectly) dismissed. She doesn’t want to take that path.
Gotta disagree. The “it’s a hoax” argument is being carried by many many clued in conservatives. Beating that same drum would be redundant. She’s taking a different and novel attack. It’s yet another flanking maneuver. Cf. Sun Tzu (spellings differ).
